Muskoka Lakes Checkmate Rally - Aug. 22

Muskoka

Member
A group of Lake Muskoka, ON Checkmate owners are organizing a Checkmate Rally on Sat. Aug. 22nd. We would meet at the Gravenhurst Muskoka Wharf @ 10am. Lots of docking, good launching facilities and great trailer parking available.

Cruise up Lake Muskoka to Port Carling, through the locks to Lake Rosseau and to Port Sandfield on Lake Joseph; lunch and back to Muskoka.

Who is interested? Please send an email to the Rally Chairman, Michael Hart, michael.hart@rogers.com for details.

that sounds very cool! shame my boat is in a million pieces. might have to make the drive down to check out the boats before they leave though!

I am all for that but not sure if that weekend works well for me. Who is leading the pack? I know a few checkmate owners on the lake muskoka who are not on this board so i will pass on the message.

Sounds good to me as well ... at this point I'm good ... things can always change but count me in for now.

Chris E ..... if things work out for that day you can ride with me if you like... don't have to commit either way, see how things look for you at that time. We can touch base when it gets closer.

sounds good Bruce, i'll take you up on that offer! thanks!

Strong Interest in the Muskoka Rally

This is great initial support, thanks. I just spoke with a Doug Smith at Checkmate and he will discuss with his team participation. We are will be circulating a flyer to a number of Muskoka boat owners this weekend to increase participation. Ianz asked " who is leading" -Michael Hart has initiated this, but is looking for other volunteers to assist with organization.

We are also going to reach out to local Ontario dealers for participation/sponsorship of the Rally (Jim Earle Marine, Bay City Marine, etc).

Sounds cool....The Performance Boat Club will be on the Muskoka's on August 15th...you may want to get out on that day too...starting out of Gravenhurst too and doing all 3 lakes...

If I am up that weekend I don't mind leading or following in the rear if I have family in the boat. I know the 3 lakes very well and this sounds like a great run.

I ran into Muskoka today in the Locks. He told me about this Rally.
If I can swing some changes in my schedule I will try and join you for the day.

Would be nice to put a face to some of the names on this board.

Muskoka Checkmate Rally Itinerary Aug. 22

We are all set for the Muskoka Checkmate Rally this weekend. Lot's of people have been talking it up. I know of 10 boats planning to come and we may get some additional people/boats through the event marketing. We have some nice promo material coming from Checkmate to distribute.

There are no registration fees. Note all are responsible for their own operating costs (gas, food, etc.) and liability. Suggest you come with a full tank of gas, so we dont have to fight the Saturday marina lines. I have seen several of our collegues doing some serious "mate" cleaning, I expect to see some gleaming boats.

Look forward to seeing you at 10am at the Gravenhurst Wharf.

Directions to the Muskoka Rally - Aug 22

Hey Merc245 and others, the best way to get to the Muskoka Warf, Gravenhurst if coming from Toronto is 400N to Hwy#11 North to Gravenhurst (about 1.5hrs), exit onto Hwy169, follow 169 about 2km through the main town, about 2km to the water front. You will see a bunch of new restraunts, the park and Seguin park, stay on 169, go about 1/4km past Boston Pizza on the right, just past the next light turn right, onto Steamboat Bay Road. There is a boat launching ramp sign there. Nice free launching ramp and great car and trailer parking.

Once you launch your boat, drive out around the point to the right and come to the big docks just to the left of the Boston Pizza...you will see all the Checkmates.

The boat count of attendees grew by 3 more today. We could have 14-15 boats!

Just sitting at work exploring some websites,I have it all figured out now. Looks like a beautiful place to hold an event. But I knew that because the wife and I have stayed a Topermory twice over the past few yrs.Looks like the same topography.:thumb:

Then next weekend I'll be down in Lake Cumberland on a houseboat trip for four days:thumb:

I'm excited to be part of it.See You there!

Hey Chris

Yes I now own a 78 Pedictor and started trying get a handle on it. I have had a super busy summer and need to take some for myself. My Vmate works awsome with Merc 90 and Laser 20in. Checkmate Rally

I'm a muskoka resident/worker. On the way to turtle Jack's stop by the boatworks for gas it's 1.309 (2 locations in port carling, one before the locks and the IGA on the indian River and one past the locks on the left side) Deep docks for gas. Good service too. Just a suggestion tho. I would love to be out on this with my boat but I have another engagement to be at. Cheers and have a good run.

Hey Walt, i got the boat in the garage, and that has been the extent of things so far. i really want to get the floor done before fall, but i'm not holding out any hope at the moment. works been busy, been busy with the kids, and no time for the boat. thankfully dad's boat is running well, i have been using it every week!

i am planning on being there at 9.30, and i beleive a friend of mine will also be running his mate as well. hopefully the weather will co-operate.
