Muskoka Lakes Checkmate Rally - Aug. 22

Well I made home OK,Had a good Day.Ran a tank out. There were about 12 or 13 of us. Sorry no pics here. But I did win another checkmate shirt! The old black bitch was the oldest boat there!Maybe tomorrow someone will post a few pics. Later

Rally Summary

It was a great Muskoka Checkmate Rally yesterday, thanks to your participation. I was thrilled to have 12 boats attend. We all enjoyed meeting more "Mate" enthusiasts and you looked like you all had a great time. We certainly drew many looks of admiration in the Muskoka "Hot Spots" (Gravenhurst Warf, Port Carling locks, Turtle Jacks, Lake Joe Club, Port Sandfield, etc.).

Special thanks to the folks that made the trailer trip up for the day (Jeff "merc245", "Bruce", "Chris E", Clarence, Joyce, Doug & Eileen). Thanks to www.posterjack.ca for the Rally poster. I would be interested in your feedback on what went well on the day and what we would improve, should we do an event like this another year.

Can someone tell me how to upload pictures to this site and I will post some.

I found loading them on to photobucket and using the IMG code and hitting copy now you can now bring that pic over to the web sight and place it where want it by hitting paste, once you start It goes quickly..That way they are presented full size and you can put then one after another!

ps not sure how Chris wants it done but this is the way most do it.

If possiable could anyone include a simple little map with the route we took and scan it back in to the pics I just like to see! Thanks

I know with the lay of the land there is not many,If any little beaching areas or sand bars or swimming holes. But I would be willing to give up 20 minutes of seat time for a little relaxing & refreshing dip into that beautiful water thats up there! Jeff

pics look good, i snapped off over 50, but only got a few decent ones, i'll try to get them up later today. I got one very good shot of your boat.

it was great to meet you Jeff, came over to say good-bye but you were off floating in the bay! Nice to put a name to a face. Awesome that you came all the way from Michigan to play in my neck of the woods!

it was a great day and thankfully the weather held off.

Thanks again to Bruce for letting me ride along (and drive) a pretty cool pulsare. First chance i had to drive a 2100, and what a well behaved boat it was (typical of any checkmate i have ever driven).

It appeared to me that everyone enjoyed themselves, so hopefully we can do this again next year, maybe my boat will be floating by then (and pigs will fly, cows will jump over the moon, and the leafs will win the stanley cup!)

Maybe a trip through Bala next year? those bridges are fun to navigate through especially the very narrow one closest to bala (can't remember which island it goes through).

Nice pics! Allllll those white mates, and one black sheep! :rof:
Looks like it was a good time, I really need to get my boat out- been 3 weeks. :brickwall:

A great time was had by all ... big thumbs up for Jeff who endured the Toronto traffic on a Friday afternoon coming from Michigan to join in. Like Michael had mentioned earlier we certainly drew some attention. While I was getting the boat/trailer ready for the ride home Saturday evening, another boater asked if Checkmate was a special "Class" of boat since he saw us out during the day ... his remark was .. man I was in your wake the entire day. Mission accomplished !!!! I told him what it was all about and he thought it was a great idea.

I really enjoyed it as I got to see some of the other parts of the "Big 3" which I usually won't venture into since I am not that familiar with the waters. We certainly have some great looking Checkmates in the Muskoka area !!!!

Again, a Big Thanks to Michael and his daughter for organizing it and to all the others who made it such a successfull event.

Yea, I went out and enjoyed a dip and whine down with a few cold ones and listen to some music.I was deciding should I load and go before the rain or hang around just long enough to do it in the rain. I was down the road about 30 minutes when it started.

Hi Guys,

Muskoka asked if I could create a dedicated gallery category for the pics that you guys have.

I've set up the gallery category, just keep in mind when you upload your pics, you have to make sure you select the 2009 Muskoka Checkmate Rally as the gallery category.

And also, you obviously have to be a supporting member to upload files.

-Chris
