My first Checkmate, and my first boat

New member
I have been looking to buy a boat since I was 16. Well, after 1000s of hours browsing craigslist wishing, I finally pulled the trigger on a 1981 enticer. Bought it a couple of hours ago on ebay and now need to pick up in NC. Hope to go this weekend. Look forward to getting to know all of you guys on this site. Cannot even begin to say how excited I am...

Thanks for all the welcomes. I haven't seen the boat yet, but it sounds to be in great shape. The seller seemed to be a very honest man that just didn't use his boat anymore. Only issue he said was the wood under the gas tank where the bolts are is getting soft. I know that soft wood ends up being a MAJOR fix, but he said it was not bad at all yet, just didn't want it to be a surprise to me. I think he is around Asheville (?) NC but he said he would meet me in Knoxville Tn at his Bros. shop which will shorten my round trip from 22 hrs to 16.

I did notice the ladder is missing and need to start searching for a used one somewhere.

Congrats and welcome to the sickness! I certainly know how you're feeling with the new boat. I picked mine up a couple of weeks before Thanksgiving and only got a few rides before it went away for what feels like the longest winter ever.
