Hello all,
Just bought an '89 Spectra 201 with a '96 Mercury 225 EFI (1/2 interest with the pops). Can't wait to get it on Alum Creek this weekend!! Hope to get out Friday afternoon. I will hopefully get some pictures this weekend and post soon. Anyways I love this site and hope to learn a lot from it. I live in Delaware but am from Bucyrus (where Checkmates are made), in fact our Checkmate was purchased from someone in Bucyrus. Some of you may have seen the boat - Chequita (its yellow!). Keep posting - I love looking at other people's Checkmates!!

I might be wrong but I think I remember a post about a yellow spectra called chequita that a member sold many years ago.

I believe we are the third owners of this boat so that is possible. Maybe some pictures will jog memories. I'll try to post next week. I will also try to search and see what I can find.

Congrats

My previous c-mate was the same setup. It was a great boat that provided years of enjoyment

Post the details of the setup and your speeds.

Yes it was in Bucyrus at that time. It was out at my dad's house, then we took it up to Lake Erie Friday afternoon.
Went to Kelley's Island Saturday and saw some of the BIG DOGS doin' the Poker Run. This little dog didnt do great on the big water, but it was a nice ride in the evening when the wind laid down. Anyways, in reply to a previous message, i dont really have any speed details because of the waves. I also went to Alum Creek a few weeks ago, but I had the wife and baby in the boat, so we all know how that story ends. I did get it up to about 63 on my handheld GPS on the Bucyrus reservoir before we bought it. That is about as good as I can give out for now.
