New Pulsare 21 RECORD SPEED! 98.1 mph!!

Very impressive! I wonder if you took that boat up north in the colder air if it would put up a triple digit number. If I win the lottery I'm buying one from you right away. Good work.

Awesome Randy! W- all the set up work you've did on these Pulsares, you deserve to be the first guy to break 100 mph-

WM,

Nice work!

What do you think has changed over the past 5 years? I mean, low 90's was the benchmark with a 300XS not that long ago.

Different/bigger props? Has Checkmate changed anything?

It's all about the setup!! Randy's using more setback than most were trying on the Pulsare 2100's 5 years ago! On my old black Pulsare I hit 80mph with 13.5" of setback, a bone stock 225XRi and a Trophy Plus 26. Even 77+ was attainable with a full tank of gas and two people on board.

Very impressive #'s Randy.:thumb: How are the transoms holding up to all that weight hanging so far off the back? Do you reinforce them or does Checkmate build them nice and beefy?

Pulsare transoms are pretty stout! They have 2 large transom knees and a horizontal cross brace!

Having seen one dismantled, the transom would have to be rotted enough to allow the bolts to pull through. Otherwise set them back!!

Obviously the set up makes a difference, specifically a 30P prop with 1.62's was totally out of the discussion a few years ago.

That was my point.

Maybe, but these speeds are only possible at sea level.

Yes altitude has a huge affect. I'm at 5000+ ft and can only dream at achieving the speeds mentioned here. I'm down about 20% in horsepower just due to air density.

I also have wondered if I lose some aerodynamic bow lift due to the altitude? The same principle as aircraft needing a longer take off distance at higher altitude due to less wing lift. Just a thought?

Pulsare's seem to need as much bow lift as possible to get max speed. I'm going with more engine setback this spring to see if it helps.

I believe the additional set back allows bow lift without as much trim. Although with my Starliner (not padded) 10 inches additioinal set back just added about 3MPH, but the boat handled much better and felt solid at top speed.

It is not so much the altitude or the set back, there have been plenty of guys that have ran 16+ inches of set back. There is one other key factor that everyone is over looking. I had a 2100LD running 79gps back in 2001 with13.5 inches of setback. There in no doubt that a 2100 will run in the low to mid 80's with a 225. If I had the $$$, I would prove it, but for now, I won't give up the secret.
