Hey Dwayne my name is spelled the same way. Ask good old cooprider. Anyways Chris I am casting both my votes on Dwayne's Convincor. Cool white and like the Checkmate logo design.

. It stands out in that water. So now what would it take to get Dwayne to make poster's of it so I can buy 2 from him to hang it in my garage and heck in my living room so I can show it off to my buddies who have no clue to what a Convincor is.

Nice Convincor Dwayne and good luck hope you win.

I have a full size version of that old washed out Pulse ripping shot too in case I need a bigger one
thumb.gif

JW what kind of numbers were you getting out of the pulse? that thing looks high and dry for a 'mate, real nice, I said I vote for 2 twice but Id vote for JW and 2

With the setback, the 26" Laser II, the smaller XR6 gear case, and mounted as high as water pressure would allow, I was right on 70 mph. Not bad for a 150 on a heavy Checkmate! Here's a couple pix of the interior and the port side.

According to the Checkmate brochure, that Pulse 171 weighed approx 1200 pounds. Bill Combs told me he thought it was actually a little lighter than that. For reference, that yellow Vector below has been reinforced and rebuilt to 543 pounds. Same length boat, 1/2 the weight!

As long as I'm posting pix.............
Here she is the day I sold her to a guy that didn't care about speed, he just wanted to look cool! He had finished putting kids through college, and this was his reward. This was December 5 1998.

Interesting factoid, I've sold almost all of my boats in the months of October through January. Who says there's an 'off' season for boat sales in cold Michigan!

Wish I still had it. Was a mistake to sell.

After kicking myself in the butt for selling the black boat, I replaced it with something more practical, the 1995 Persuader.

I kept this Persuader for a few years, until I bought a lake house. Unfortunately, the Persuader draws too much water (even with the little 4.3 V6) for my current lake situation. My shoreline is shallow out 140' and I only have 100' of dock, so the Persuader had to go. It got replaced by the Pulsare

As you can see, even when lightly loaded, the Persuader dips WAY down in back with the 4.3 LX V6 and alpha outdrive. It must have sat even deeper with the 5.0 V8. I can't stand to keep a boat in the water, and she drew too much water to put onto a shore station at this house, so I peddled it down the road. WAY down the road. The buyer was a great guy, who came all the way from New Mexico to buy it!

P.S. It was 4th of July weekend, and we taped a big plastic American flag onto the sunpad, which we then 'powered up' to vertical so everyone could see it

Last one (maybe) for tonight. As you can see here, the Pulsare draws MUCH less water than an I/O. Of course, the light weight Promax helped too..............

This was my first 'white' boat. Not as cool looking as all RED or BLACK with red/white stripes, but the maintenance of a white boat is far easier! Sun doesn't kill a white finish like it does red or black! I had to keep the red/yellow/orange stripes waxed good, but not the whole boat

wow how shallow is that water? 3 feet? is that just a steak pounded in for a mooring? how long is that shaft, looks longer than a normal 20 but maybe my eyes are playen tricks on me

Both my votes go to #4.
thumb.gif
Love the graphic on that one. Sorry JW, you would have had my other vote if the photo was just a bit better. I know those action shots can be hard to get though. That Pulse is a great looking boat. Of coarse all the boats you own look great right down to the tin one with that other brand motor on it.

Coming soon to a lake near you! <span class="ev_code_RED">"Secret Agent"</span>

PDW, that Pulsare was great for pulling up skiers. With the high revving Promax and the 23" Tempest, it about pulled your arms off.

Duane, that motor has a 20" shaft, and I thought it looked longer in the photo too! Yes the water is shallow there, that's why I got the Pulsare. Pulsare is now with a new owner in Chicago. I decided to have two boats, one for racing and one for tubing, so the 'do-all' Pulsare went by-by.

Jkeiper, thanks for the compliment! Yes, I do try to keep my boats looking nice. I think most Checkmate owners do. And that little Alumacraft with the 15 Honda rocks! We have 3 different streams that are accessible by a small boat, so you're looking at my little 4X4 boat

Ill tell you what if you gonna hang em up ill send you a couple of pics on some photo kinda like a blown up photo I can only do 8"x11" ifn that ill work..thanks for the votes..your buddys dont know what a convincor is are they sheltered..Well I can't say anything because I didn't know what a checkmate was until I decided I wanted a bigger smoother riding boat with a cuddy cabin. So I started looking was all set on buying a baja(yes I musta been sick
brickwall.gif
) found a couple boats I liked so I put my boat I had at the time up for sell.Well I went and looked at a couple older bajas one was a 98 and also a 99 was not happy at all could tell they weren't well maintained so then decided I was gonna have to get something newer so found an 2003 baja islander in the paper 80 hrs 800 wats of stereo 454 mag 80 mph boat all the bell and whistles and at a ridiculus price and I was like this must be deal of the century.
lol.gif
So set up appointment to go look at the boat drive 1hr 15min 1way to the lake were the boat is stored get over there and look at the boat looks great very good shape so I ask the guy if we could take It for a ride and he really didn't want too but I was like I drove an hour and 15min and If the boat runs out its sold so he agreed to go for a ride so we go launch the boat his wife joins us so he backs the truck in and i drive the boat off the trailer and first thing blower dont work ok im thinkin fuse no big deal let the boat warm up put it in reverse and sounds like the tranny bout to burst it clunked kinda like a truck does when someone launching a boat on a step incline and they put there truck in netural and dont set the e brake and then when they get ready to leave and put it in gear how it sounds. So now my deal of the century isnt shapein up like I had envisioned
zx11pissed.gif
So he gats in the boat takes over the helm and off we go I express my concerns on the shift prob and he says always been like that since day of purchase.
icon_eek.gif
Well were moving along he opens it up a little and I notice the depth finder isnt keeping ready its blinking so I express my concern on that and ha says been like that since the day I bought think they all do that at higher speeds
jpshakehead.gif
(now my deal of the century has turned into an all out nightmare)So i'm sittin talkin to his wife and he proceeds to bring it on up to I'd say about 3/4 throttle maybe a little more the boat starts shaken and rattlin kinda like one of them massage beds at a motel
Eyecrazy.gif
He dont keep it there long and brings it down some then his wife proceeds to tell me she was glad he brought it down because he knows she dont like to go fast in the boat
icon_rolleyes.gif
So he says here take the helm and drive now by this time i dont wanna drive i dont know anything but FAST in my boat I felt like it would have been better to be on a paddle boat by this time If I cant test drive the boat like im gonna drive it when its mine whats the purpose his wife would have went into shock ifn she wouldnt have told me that before getting behind the wheel. It was terrible we luckly made it to the dock back at his house docked the boat and he said well what you think and I told him that I did not think it should be shifting soo hard like that and about the depth finder and blower and seems like something else was wrong and said he should take it in and have it looked at because the boat is still under warranty and he says he wouldnt do that because he was going to be buying another boat from them and they would get mad
lol.gif
he says this is what I this is the price and you dont have to buy it if you dont wanna so I say I wont and left
brickwall.gif
Tell you what it was starting out bad 3rd person came lok at my boat bought it so know its first of june and I have no boat
yell.gif
So I look at thousands of boats online call all kinds of peopl I had 6 pages of note book paper full of boats and numbers now its gettin real close to the 4th weekend and I gotta have a boat by then well I found a lot of boats in dallas that sounded good so I take off to dallas was planing on 2 day trip I had 6 boats lined upthought it shouldn't be no prob.Boy was I wrong I was lookin at 99 2000's and I was just really disgusted it was raining 1 whole day so now I have to stay another day so on the rainy day I get on the laptop at my room and start lookin for some more boats and different brands now because I'm haten bajas bout this time so i'm get info on donzi scareb and some of your other production boats that have there soo called power boats and that is when i seen the checkmate and I put it on the bottom of the list I never even heard of a mate next day rolls around this is monday 3rd day in dallas so im lookin at all these other boats and there all bombing out So I'm really frustaed at this time so I call on the checkmate its gettin late and im runnin outta boats well when I call on the checkmate it just happens to be the phone number at Elimanator boats in dallas lady that answer says I have to talk to the general manager Mike is his name so he feels me in on how he is sellin the boat for one of his customers and the boat is an 1hr 30min away and we could go see it 2morrow.Buy now after talkin to Mike I'm really interested in the boat so know i'm stayin another night in dallas
icon_eek.gif
So I go back to the room and get the laptop out and do a little research on some mates find some more for sale and know im kinda gettin worked up but then again im thinkin about all that has happened. So the next day Mike calls and says he will personally go to lake texoma with me to look at the boat and there we will meet the owner Brad so off we go me following him an 1hr 1/2 away all the way im think here I go again and if this was to bomb out who knows how long I could be boatless shot I may not even get in a boat again if this turned out rotten. But we get there and meet Brad looked at the boat and my eyes were probably startin to sparkle this was one of the oldest boats I had looked at in days but was in better shape than any other one so I made offer and said if he would take it and we run it and it checks out it was sold and as you can see It checked out
bounce.gif
Well guess I gotta little carried away but what the heck I think its cool the way it all happened in the end I ended up with an awsome boat even in time for the 4th...thanks again on the votes

Thanks for all the votes guys. I love my mate and you know what haven't seen another on the water yet were I boat And I sure get alot of compliments on it had a guy chase me down the other day in a bass boat(he couldn't catch me until I stopped)when I was on the river just to tell me how nice it looked and sounded and wanted to know what brand it was. They do stand out with the great looks and craftmanship they are top of the line boats and I am so glad to have been able to get my mate and not a baja. Thanks again
