This is my second boat, but first Checkmate. I toured the Checkmate factory back in the 90's, and knew one day I'd own one. Only took twenty years!

Here's my 'new' 1995 219 Persuader:

Original boat (according to Kip Combs @ Checkmate) was Black with Hot Pink and Jazz Pink and sold to a Michigan dealer. No other information available. Since then, it has had new interior and accent stripes re-done in Silver/Blue. Floor/stringers were replaced. Boat is rock solid. Some cosmetic issues with the hull paint, but nothing serious for a 20 year old boat. Definitely needs the factory style decal for the back. C-Hawk trailer was completely restored: 5 new wheels/tires, new brakes, new coupler, new winch, new dolly, stripped and painted, new wiring/lights.

7.4L 454, Bravo 1, 23p stainless prop. Boat hit 62 mph (GPS app) on the Saginaw River with smooth water and engine in the 4500 rpm 'range'. I wasn't driving, but I believe we were a bit 'bow down'. Which would explained some of the wandering. We also had some issues with the Bennett trim tabs - the electric connection loosened up, and the tabs retracted. The outdrive trim gauge needs adjusting. I believe it will be a 65 mph boat, given enough lake to run on. Dealer will be fixing the few items needed, including flipping the ski eye back around, depth finder, and outdrive trim.

Very cool boat, but I personally think it would be cooler pink, and I think Keith would agree with me. LOL. Seriously though, that thing is sharp!! I love black boats, makes me miss my old black starflite. Congrats on the purchase!!!

Oh yeah, :welcome:

Welcome, nice big block boat, I spent over 20 yrs camping and boating on the Bruin/Half moon chain with my starflite/2.5 245hp combo. Ever want to hit the big water let us know! Got me a 24 ZT now. merc245

PS why don't plow the side streets in Canton? :irked:

...why don't they plow the side streets in Canton? :irked:
I think the Wayne County politicians like to forget we are out here, until it's time for the property taxes to get paid....

Subdivisions with home owner associations contract private companies to plow their streets. My sub is plowed when we get a pre-determined amount of snow.

Everyone else has to wait for Wayne County to come out and plow. And ya know how that goes....

Thanks! I had my fishing boat in a rack-n-launch on Lake Erie for a good amount of time. Decided to 'trailer boat' it for a few years when the kids were young. Got rid of the boat from lack of use.

When I get this one running the way I want, I may just take it for a spin on the big water.

Welcome . Very nice looking 219. Fun boats for sure and I also like the looks of the black boats . Maybe we can get a Michigan Checkmate shakedown to happen this summer. :thumb:

Welcome to the forum.........

That is a sharp lookin Persuader, and I am a big fan of black boats too.
Yup, yup. You know what the say.....''Once you go black......you can never drive aluminum. ? ? Something like that. My memory is not what it used to be.
And, just for the record, It's not pink accents.
It's Raspberry. How many times do I need to repeat this basic, simple, indisputable truth?:rof:
