Official Press Release:

In Production: New 26’ Convincor Coming in 2012 from Checkmate Marine

Bucyrus, OH (October 28, 2011) -- Checkmate Marine is excited to announce a new 26’ Convincor currently in production at the Checkmate workshop in Bucyrus, OH - in anticipation for a Spring 2012 release.

“I’m excited to reveal this custom-designed, unique looking performance boat to the boating community. We’ve spent a lot of time on the design of this model, creating it from scratch, and including truly unique details that you won’t see anywhere else,” says Doug Smith, owner of Checkmate Marine.

Each detail has been thoroughly thought out to maintain the high standards that have become the tradition with all Checkmate boats.

The 26’ Convincor has a distinctive looking windshield/windscreen designed specifically for this new model. Along with the unique windshield/windscreen, the sleek and sporty new model also includes exciting interior features such as a larger, roomier cockpit with a wide 8’6” beam, nicely appointed interior, custom seating, spacious cabin with a V-berth sleeping area.

Outside, the 26’ Convincor sports either a Mercruiser 8.2 Mag at 380hp or a Mercruiser 8.2 H.O. rated at 430hp. Additionally, standard on this model is a fiberglass swim platform.

As with all Checkmate boats, the new 26’ Convincor includes customizable in-gel graphics, no sprayed-on paint or stickers. List price on this model will be approximately $80,000.

Interesting....... Wish it was more than just a rendering at this point.

Will have to see it in person but side profile kinda looks like the ZT244??

No comment on the design until I see the real thing...

Let the  begin. How many "it looks like a Baja comments will we hear"?????

This should be good. The snow is flying here in CT, so I have nothing to do tomorrow but read the bashing.

This will be fun.

The release says they're developing it from scratch, that's encouraging to me at least. :)

I can't wait to see it what the finished product looks like!! Although, maybe i'm just to old school, but i'm really not feeling the "futuristic" looking windshield. Since it's just a rendering drawing, which tend to be a little different from the end product, i'm still optomistic that this new Convincor is gonna be sharp!

I have seen it in person and it is amazing!!! The boys in Bucyrus are outdoing themselves on this one, a great mixture of old and new as well as never seen before!! Can't wait to get one......

Let me know when you do!

Sounds encouraging,,, can't wait to see the real thing even though I won't be able to afford one! :irked:

wonder if they'll offer a bowrider version as well? looking very forward to seeing this hull when they make pics available.

Not bashing with Baja comments;)! I just think with that low windshield it has a similar profile. I really want to see it in person before I pass judgment on it. With the current convincor style my all time favorite look of ANY big boat on the market, there is big shoes to fill when making a new mold:thumb:

If the swim platform comes standard, then is the swim platform counted in the LOA?

I think all boats count the platform as part now. Cheap footage IMO. Most of the checkmates started counting in the early 2000's

i would venture to guess this thread will die about the same time i pull my boat back outa storage, in the spring that is:o
should be interesting to see the outcome of the boat:popcorn:

While in design stage, wouldn't it have been an idea to also offer with a couple of Opti's as alternative to 8.2? (Single just wouldn't do it IMO)

After all, our wonderful system dictates higher oil prices are part of an "improved" economy, let alone one that's actually robust. By the time boat sales finally take off, running an 8.2 will cost as much as the boat.

New 26' convincor not what I hoped for

Not at all what i expected and if it looks at all like this it won't make my list. Way too much change with this one. I was hoping for a smaller version of the 300 which IMO is almost a perfect design with great classic lines and style. This drawing sure does look like some other boats on the water. Too bad. It may be appealing to some buyers but it seems to me that most of us like the more rigid lines with modern features. Maybe it's just me..........what do you guys think?
