It does have a hint of Baja Islander in it huh.

Its not my style.

That being said.......... maybe this is just what they need to break into a whole new market. I am sure it will sell. It would make a great family boat.

Let's face it guys. The days of selling a boat with the interior made of carpeted decks/seat boxes and hulls are about over. How many people have a garage/storage building to treat a boat like a convertible car without a top?

I hope the cushions use synthetic wood bases too.

I like the design of this boat, but yeah, it really doesn't look like a checkmate, either. But being able to hose it down sure is a nice feature.

Also, how many outboard bow riders are made now? I hate small I/O boats, so thanks to CM for offering this one. I had a 19 chapparal OB once, and I loved that boat. Would run 54 with a 150 Evinrude.

My 2 Cents....

Had to at least put my 2 cents in here. This is still built like every other Checkmate ....same hull mold as 2000 BR / 2000 CD just another option. Just not the room in it to put all the cool features that are in 2400 BRX but still very similar in room, cleanability, a great little ski boat and runs 50 MPH with a 115 Opti on it ! Some one mentioned the windsheild ...it is the exact same shield that's on 2400 BRX with smaller center section. Great point made above.....boat was designed to sell against the small i/o market out there...with a 150 on it it will run circles around any 4 / 6 banger i/o and look cooler doing it. This will also get customer that maybe wouldn't even think about a Checkmate before look into this boat....and once your in a Checkmate most people stay in them regardless of which style , model, time frame, etc you personally prefer....the non mass produced construction, gelcoat graphic's, and people that own them are what draw people to Checkmate's... : )

Yeah, I don't get all the negativity. The hull looks like a CM to me, only reason the deck doesn't is because they never made a liner boat like this before. This boat will appeal to those that don't live on inland lakes and rivers as well.

I'd be happy with one of these and a 225 Pro XS.

Of course I have a 19' DC now, and owned a larger one previously, so I like the layout and easy maintenance combined with performance. My Mckee runs 47 wfo with a F150 Yamaha, so some speed would be nice.

With the advent of cat converters on I/Os, I would think that outboards are going to have a good price and performance advantage now.

I hope CM sells a ton of them and keeps the cash flowing!

The rounder lines lose the Checkmate heritage and look more Baja like..not totally crazy about the look but it isn't bad...it should appeal to the masses. Having more room to move about is always a good thing on a small boat and the inner liner is very nice touch..now slap some real power on the boat and see if the hull can carry the torch!

I really like it.:D I've been looking at other options for outboard bowriders and there is nothing out there.

The choices seem to be limited to an 18' Glastron that is sooo ugly and i'm sure is cheaply built and some real ugly deckboats...Tahoe:irked: Hurricane, etc...

I live on the West Coast of FL this boat interior looks like its easy to keep up. I like the full windshield and the openess of the passenger side. It looks ideal for running the rivers and venturing out into the gulf for some island hopping.

The graphics on this example are not very good in my opinion and may be why it does seem to look like a Baja/Bayliner. The rear bench and bow seats also look a bit cheap.

I would buy one these in a heartbeat with some better graphics and much more HP than a 115.

It is nice to see CM come out with a new model and I hope they sell a ton of them.

Be happy for Checkmate & be glad that they are still around to introduce new boats.

Many boaters have seen their favorite manufacturer go under.

i've been waitin for this since the 24'brx came out,bit more affordable ... it has its +/- ,but overall its good imo. i think the arc of the windshield frame(profile) gives a baja feel w/ rounded rear deck area .

I have a new 20BRX on order. It will have a Merc 200 ProXS and alot of cool stuff. The gray stripe will be silver flake. There's also a silver flake stripe between the top red and black stripe.
However! Don't be surprised if you see it on here with a new 300XS! {Just for testing of course!}

deadhorse2.gif All Dougs Beckmates where a flop and now this baymate will be one also, isn't the new baymate a checkmate hull with a new top cap. I hate a boat with no carpet but then again I'm no slob in my boat either.

What I would like to know, is when the new pontoonmate is comming out. Done tried everything else from a 35 foot poker runner, to a fishing boat, now a carpet-less liner boat. Checkmates sell on their stream line looks that Bill Combs created so just SUCK IT UP DOUG AND DEAN ALL ROLL WITH IT BEFORE YOU GO UNDER.

MY O2 DON'T CARE IF YOU LIKE IT OR NOT realitycheck.gif AND PS YOUR SEAT COLOR COMBO'S I THINK ARE REALLY STARTING TO SUCK, JUST WONDERING IF BOZO THE CLOWN IS WORKING THEIR NOW.

Now isn't that overly harsh Red?

I like the idea of the boat. Checkmate needed to move towards more modern build designs for years, while still keeping the 'Checkmate-ness' of the line. I've already stated I don't like the passenger dash design, but do like the fact that the boat is fully lined. For the interior colors, you know you can get whatever color you want. Not many other builders out there will build a boat how YOU want it. Same with the outside colors.

With the interior fully lined, I'm sure in a couple more model generations we'll be able to buy a Checkmate with almost no wood. No rot in the seat bases and floor and core area/stingers. The future has finally arrived at CMate, and I'm really glad for the changes.

Just wondering, is there something about having the inner liner that requires the changes in deck design? I think the bayliner look comes from the way the windshield is up higher, like the deck bulges up rather than being as sleek as some other checkmates. The hull looks like a checkmate to me but the deck does not. My question is this a function of getting more space in the smaller boat, or is it somehow a requirement of the inner liner for structure or something?

Ill be curious to see how Wildman's looks, wonder if those graphics will make the lines look better.

If a snap-in carpet is put in the boat, then it will no longer be "carpetless" All my "liner" boats have snap[in.

I always pull and store the carpets from my liner boats. I should go one step further and remove the male snaps from the floors and fill the holes with 5200.

When will 21 BR be available with inner liner or is it already? Randy showed us his closed deck. Price difference bare hull between 20 & 21?

heres what I mean if i wasnt clear
current deck

and what the more classic lines would look like (ish), is the liner the reason for the difference? if so then its prolly worth it, and if not, I guess I dont like the new lines, but still a cool boat.

I am thrilled that Checkmate is starting to build modern innerliner boats. The update was well overdo. The 2400 BRX looks great. This one seems to depart from the sport boat tradition and has a mass produced look. It looks a lot like a Marada I used to own. I liked it a lot ... but it was no Checkmate.

The factory just posted a video of the new boat on the water, check it out on Facebook. Looks good on the water.
