Ski pole

Is there no old mounting brackets on it? most of them had a tripod setup.

Mine has a little different setup that I like, just one pole through the top of the splash well and mounted to the floor, this pole stays on all the time and I never need to store it of worry about scratching the boat up taking it on or off, I had to make the side brackets to raise it up over the fuel tank.

I even had my tarp custom made so I could leave it on.

That's one option or you can get a swivel eze tri pod set up that will work

thanks john...no real room in the enchanter...small lip behind the seat then drops to the well. I have a swivel eze I custom installed, just need to tweak the mounting bracket. Looks like you used aluminum?

just looking for alternatives,,pictures are worth a thousand words...so thanks

I keep my swivel eze up all the time, I like the look and I use it to pull my old butt up the ladder.

Yup, it's all aluminum

Its been forever since I was pulled behind an o/b. When I was we would use the Y rope attached to both sides of the stern eyes and go. Is this just old ( I see they still make them) or is a pole better?

1st thing I found irritating with a harness, was the line always dragging in the water sking and tubing (boring). And with the moving pivot point forward of the prop makes it harder to pull the stern toward you. closer to like a real ski boat!

Old school towing, lol

For slalom skiing or wake boarding a bar is much better, if you have an under powered boat the stern eyes will work better for getting the skier up, or for towing a tube with a smaller or narrow boat they always recommend you use the stern eyes because the pull of the tube when it hits the water a certain way it a turn can pull the boat right over when attached to the ski bar

I always thought that was BS but one time driving my father in laws 16 ft invader which is really narrow with a few heavy guys on the tube I really thought we were gonna go over.

In a decent sized boat a ski bar is better IMO, easier to watch the rope when picking up downed riders or backing up, and when towing beginners with the stern eyes at a slow speed the rope has a tendency to get sucked under the water being that low.

The only time I use my Y rope and stern eyes is if I need to tow a boat a long distance and want to get it up on plane, much more solid than a bar, funny as hell towing some guy with a 70 Johnson at 60 mph :rof:

Thanks guys,
i didn't know. Never had a pole just wondering the difference.

Funny you talk about getting turned over. My wife pulled me on the waverunner and I was on a tube. Well she whipped me and didn't turn into the whip and keep the rope tight. I saw it coming and laughed so hard as I yanked her and the ski over!

Merc, judging by your avatar your an accomplished skier, I used to be able to touch my shoulder to the water like that.......when I was 16:lol:

Hardly ever ski anymore, last year only did it one time and felt it for about a week.

Never got as good as I wished. I skied a ton into my 40's but not much the last 5 or 6 yrs. Never could find a partner who had the same amount of intrest. Hard to train 10 differant drivers a summer. I was hoping I would be sking into my 60's, now its hope I play volleyball / walleyball into my 60's.

The big delema back 17 yrs ago was, Do I buy a ski boat or speed boat. I figured I could ski with a speed boat but I couldn't speed with a ski boat. And the starflite just looked so good! :)

You made the right choice on the boat, bad ass indeed

That's funny about the driver thing, I only ever had one friend that could drive with me skiing and vise versa, known him since day one pretty much and been skiing with him since we were around 10 years old, with my 25 yammy, then his Dad's sea ray and then any boat I had after that.

It drove me nuts trying to ski with anyone else, especially my Dad, don't get me wrong, I appreciated the fact that he gave me the chance to ski and do all that fun stuff but my mother in law could drive a boat better with a skier

I pretty much gave up skiing when I had back surgury but part of my whole get in shape plan includes getting back into it, would like to pass it on to the kids too.

ok...if you old guys are done lamenting now, i would really like some pictures of ski pole attachments.:eyecrazy:...damn man, we all know the rope in the water sucks for tubing and boardin, its a no brainier the pole pulls you up and out........

im sure theres a thread were you can reminisce...ha!:surf:

Dude relax, mounting a ski pole is really a no brainer. I'm sure theres plenty of pictures all over this site of my ski pole. Do you want me to find them for you or how about I just come over and mount it for you. How would that work? ;)

and i am certainly not tryin to piss anyone off here...this forum has been way to valuable to me...thanks to all who have helped in previous threads:cheers:

You old fart, I guess I should of looked first, Thought you might of been a genXer or something. Not that theres nothing wrong with that.Boy, I sure do miss sking in the summers. Sorry about that have a good one!
