Starliner w/ G2 250HO Performance Report

"Speed it up Dad"

"Sam and his happy boat"

Great to have that support from your family!! I was chuckleing after each of those comments.

Boat has a great look to it on the water, really nice lines on those hulls.

Yean, man...I was actually crossing back over the wake I made in the 1st video. A little "pucker factor" always keeps it interesting.

I like the videos. Please keep us informed of your progress, attempts, successes and failures. Especially given you're using BRP technology, it helps people like me, when I can only afford to trial (buy...) and throw so many propellers at my boat before I run out of money. I can also provide advice on my experience, if you would like.

Also, keep in mind a lot of the discussion about breaking in this thread (and the other one) refers to a lot of high speed, high height running when describing propeller life.

Everyone can rest assured that I'll keep the thread updated. Regarding the props, the only two props I bought retail were the RX4's. Everything else is used or at a significant discount...I have a great source for Bravo's...I think I source almost all of my used props off BBC or here.

I tried some Bravos, and I think there is potential there, but I cannot get access to them easily enough for testing. I need vent holes in them, so it makes viability more complicated. Around here, most places do not stock/lend/carry any 28+ pitch propellers with vents. Eg. because 28 + 6100 + 1.62 + 10% = 90mph. From my side, I threw a bunch of Raker I and Raker II at my setup and they seemed initially to be very promising. Likewise with 26/28 Trophy+ props. However, none of them worked out as well as larger diameter 4 blade propellers. Lots of people suggest and support 3 blades for maximum speed, but we have not found a large enough difference to justify some of the other issues.

As far as obtaining them, I've gotten a couple from BBC, but I don't know if I will keep doing it. From Canada, it is a bit of a pain. Also, the last one I bought "had a small crack," which I guess has a variety of definition. The blade had been fixed once already and was thin, so I just threw it out.

If you are in to Mercury Racing, you can find people everywhere. Evinrude, not so much.

Update

Finally got a chance to run my brand new Bravo 1 XS 26.5. The results were encouraging, but still need more runs to dial it in. RPM's were at a solid 6,000 and GPS Speed was 70.1 mph. Unfortunately the chop was just tall enough to make driving it a real handful. The hull air out like it was an airplane and there probably was more flying than floating going on, but so far so good. I was only able to make 2 runs and I need to play with the jack plate height some more.

You're creeping up! Life begins at 70...mph! I still think you have more in your setup. My Starflite was running 80+ with the Merc Pro XB250 and Trophy Plus 26..

I'm sure it has 75 in it. When I said chop I shold have been saying small white caps. It was rough, but I've pulled some fast runs in my Rangers on the same chop, but they have a much deeper V than the Starliner.
