Stereos & Batteries - Read before buying.

Don't get your panties twisted! I told you this was a debatable issue and theres no one way about it. You choose an issue to post that has so many variables, its gonna get lots of opinions. And until I grew up all my stereos and rims were worth more then my ride!!:bigthumb:

Yup, all true, not worth getting pissed about, and your right about the stereo and rims too, I paid $800.00 cash for my first car and was making payments on the 3k stereo I put in it, or how bout hauling around my brand new snowmobile in a $500.00 rusted out F-150 because that's all I could afford, yet I could pay 14k for the sled, ah priorities at that age, I want to go back.........

Hells Yeah!!! Darn wifes, kids and growning up:banana: Responsibility sucs:brickwall:

1 - A/B amps are not as efficent as class D amps. Go run 1,000 watts on A/B amps in the lake with one battery. Tell me how you like rowing back.

2 - Your Mephis Bell Amp is almost the price of the whole system poster earlier.

2 - Okay so if a bigger amp doesn't draw more power then why does it need a bigger fuse? Go put the 20 watt amp from the CV in the memphis bell and let me know how she powers up. Hey guess what alot of outboards have 20 amp altenators. Hmmm was that a coincidence or did I suggest the Cerwin Vega for a reason???

3 - Here we go again. $400 amp + $300 stereo. Your system will cost more than my whole boat. Why don't we just get some 26's for the trailer while we are at it. Obviously when you spend alot more freakin money your going to have a better sounding system. Read my first post which gives the application of my whole post, before you start build systems that cost more than my boat, and I can only run on a single battery for 15 minutes till it's drained.

5 - Read my post again, or are you just throwing this one in to make your "argument" appear bigger?

1. Read the post again brotha. I said that they werent as efficient. I just explained why

2. That was an example. I also posted 2 or 3 other examples that ran about $300.

2a. You really have no concept of electronic theory do you. The memphis bell would power up just fine with that 20 amp fuse. It's only when you turned it up that the amp would require more power than the 20 amp fuse would let through. If you ran the amp at a low gain, it would run all day with that fuse, because the power supply wouldn't require anything more.

3.Label your post, "How to build a crappy stereo that you'll be replacing every 3-6 months" and everything will make sense. This was never intended to be an argument. I didn't post top of the line multi thousand dollar equipment. I posted a $170 head unit and several $300 amps. There's a difference between budget and crap. The $30 head unit you're suggesting isnt budget, and It won't even function in the system you're trying to build. You keep talking about the equipment I posted, but not referencing any of the actual errors you made. I don't care what your budget is, spending on an amp and skimping on the source unit is stupid. You were wrong.

5. I was agreeing. not sure what the issue is.

7. Conveniently no response. I would love to hear your argument on this.

Keith is right. Several different applications and opinions. If a $700 stereo is worth more than you boat, spend what you feel is necessary. Just doing what I can to see members dont go buying crap. I try not to be the *sshole, but some of your info was just plain wrong. If you are gonna stand by the incorrect info, I'll continue to refute it with facts and figures. Explain to me exactly how a 2 ohm speaker has a superior constuction to that of a 4 ohm and I will agree with everything else you've said.:thumb:

Heck yeah. My first car was a 1985 Ford Tempo I bought for $500 cash, but I'm sure it had 3 times that in equipment before it was done.

Nobody asked you guys to come in here and start an arguement.

Noone started an argument. People commented on your topic. That tends to happen on internet forums. You turned defensive and started calling people *ssholes instead of just backing up your info, or saying "I was wrong". This is a community where people try and look out for eachother. Im sure everyone appreciates your effort, as I do. You didnt have to take the time to type all that. BUT--if I see something wrong, then I will comment on it to keep others here from screwing something of theirs up. This is how it works. If all you plan on doing is online forum cursing at this point, we'll consider the matter closed.:brickwall:

Oh yes your so gallant and civil. Who would have ever thought an arguement would start when your making remarks like "Don't get your panties in wad." To people you don't know. I hope you don't talk like that to people on the street you never met before.
