Terrible boating accident in Long Island

I appreciate the clarification.

So if what you say is true, then I can appreciate why you got testy over having your integrity questioned.

However....

All members, yourself included, need to respond in appropriate, measured and reasonable ways to one another. And I don't believe you have done that on a number of occasions here since your arrival. If you have indeed been trying to do that, then I will say to you, that it is certainly not coming across that way, or coming through that way in your posts on many occasions.

And because of that, you have now gotten under the skin of a number of members here, which is evidenced by some of the responses seen in this thread and others. Hopefully you would agree, that the escalation of that situation, from a common sense point of view, simply can't bode well for your future enjoyment of the site - nor for enjoyment of the other members of the site either.

So what I would therefore ask you to do in the future, is to cut your fellow members here some slack, before you pull out your "keyboard cannon" and let it rip. I've seen you do that on a few too many occasions now and that's part of the problem here in this thread, I believe.

I guess some would call it overkill but I just sum it up like this...

You don't need a AK-47 to go duck hunting....

Know what I mean?

Regards,

Boating and checkmates are why im here! but some people here just dont get it! 1 bad apple can ruin things and bring people to an uproar and make them fight against each other! just ask the people at scream and fly ! They took care of their problem. Ron

How is this Chris because I have nothing to do then start threads like this.

There have been similar accidents at night where I boat at Lake Havasu. People driving their Boats going 100 MPH at night, one guy hit the bridge pillar and killed himself and 3 others, Another hit the rocks in the bend of the river he never made the turn killed one. And many more during the day and night.
All put their life in the hands of the driver as these passengers did. 1st rule of boating is the safety of your passengers come first. Going a 100 mph at night is not considering or having any regard to their safety. 100 mph is not safe during the day if conditions aren't right. Perfect example, Steve Coulobe Owner of HTM boats killed him self and 3-others aboard in a 30' HTM when he flipped his boat during the day on Lake Castaic. In excess of 100 MPH on a lake that enforces a 35 MPH speed limit. If my memory serves me right it was about 6 1/2 years ago. That incident started nation wide controversy on boat safety of high performance boats.
I give my sympathy to the victims and their families.

I agree! The sad thing about the HTM (Steve Coulobe) accident was that they were testing a brand new hull design when the incident happened. We all need to take precautions when running fast...life jackets, kill switches, limiting your speed with passengers on board, etc. . I guess the one thing that erks me the most is seeing how many boaters are drinking all afternoon long at the sandbars and watering holes---and then they get in their boat and drive home:irked::mad:...I always save my drinking for when I'm back on the docks after a great day of boating. As the captain of my Checkmate I have a responsibility to take care of my crew...they can drink all they want. I can still have as much fun without the alcohol consumption...matter of fact, you'll usually find me with a Yoo Hoo or Cream Soda in my hands to wash down the salt spray!!:D

I find it ironic that this thread was started by a guy who stuffed his Liberator because he was going to fast for the conditions with his kids in it no less.

At least I had a Liberator to stuff!! What kind of boat do you have?? I smell duct tape here. Another roving troll that goes from site to site -- A troll who will not fill out profile -- A troll who could care less about this place A troll that will never be a paying member -- boat sites are loaded with them.
