The good The bad and not so good

Robby, how does the B- stabilizer mount to the lower unit? Do you have to drill holes? Good luck-

Yeah, gotta drill four holes in the cavitation plate. The instructions said drill four 1/4" holes from the underside. I really don't want too, but that beats drilling holes thru the transom.:shakehead: If none of the mods work, I'm considering pulling the gil bracket off and mounting a 15" JP and a hydro slider.

Maybe move the motor up first to test/prop before you drill? Cooler full of beer up front may help too. :D

Boat looks STUNNING CM !!

Hope mine turns out as well! Setting deck this weekend and starting assembly now so not too much longer.

I would do the tabs before I ever even thought about a doel fin. Putting holes in the transom for tabs will hurt nothing because of one reason mainly. Your going to do it, and do it right. If your worried about water intrusion just make resealing the holes part of your winterizing ritual, no big deal at all and you'll get many more benifits from runnding tabs vs not. doel fins were really never meant for 65 MPH boats as they do put a lot of stress on the cavitation plate.
I'd also try various props as a right one can do a lot to correct how level and balanced the boat rides in the water. keep after it, your in the water man and that helps eliminate problems! :)

BTW, are those new guages and what kind are they?

Yesterday I got my filters, Bob's Stabilizer and the 25P Renegade prop. So with the exception of the filters, I'll start the process of figuring out the porpoising. I'll add Bob's Stabilizer first to see if it eliminates the problem, then switch props, followed by raising the engine up. Hopefully one of these mods with fix the porpoising. Stay tuned. Thanks to Nick (NDaniels) for the renegade prop, it's in perfect shape.:thumb:
I thought you said it showed up all mangled, was packaged like crap, and looked like trash :poke:

OH.... wait... thats what your message said:D

Great to talk with you the other day, Robbie. Hope the prop works good for you.

oh, and how much does that motor weigh compared to the new xs motors- thats the only other thing I could think of after last night. I think they are both right around 500lbs??? I know that my old 3.0L omc was 450lbs.... just a thought. Good luck with it and thanks for keeping us up to date.

The box was busted up but the prop made it unscathed, just thought i would mess with ya a little. :poke:Thanks for the prop looks great!!!:thumb: My fish n mota weights 512 lbs and it's a 3.3 liter V6.

Man I feel like a dummy, found out why the boat was porpiosing so bad.:o I was looking thru pictures of the work that was done on the Enforcer ran across the before resto pictures of the motor hanging on the Gil bracket. Then I looked at the recent ones after the resto. I've got the motor one bolt hole too high, so I went outside measured from center of prop to below vee, only 2" below.:brickwall: The motor clamp sits right on top of the bracket on the before picture and higher in the after picture. Check out the pictures:

Glad to hear you've figured it out. Hopefully you get to test it soon to see if the problem is fixed.

That's also why I take so many pictures...mostly so I can remember how it all goes back together.

I hope that does it, but if i jack too high the bow drops....just the opposite of what you need. ? Does it blow out getting on plane now?

I've got 10" sb, big difference from 24 for sure...

I haven't move the motor down yet, need to borrow a cherry picker. I would get to a certain point (60 mph) when the nose starting dropping, that also when it starting porpiosing like crazy. If that makes sense. So I think the motor is too high, we will find out when I lower the motor down.

That makes sense.

To lower it, you can probably just use the tongue jack and block under the skeg/cav plate, loosen the slotted bolts, remove the captive bolts and lower the tongue jack some, put the bolts back in....

Havn't been on the site in a week or so, missed your earlier posts. Boat looks great, glad to hear you found somethings to hopefully resolve your issues.

You also mentioned that the boat now sits higher as a result of the removed water in the back, you may need to compensate for the added effective stern lift your getting, just a thought I had. Good luck and once again the boat looks great.

The boat looks great, well done,
I would say a X dimension problem also, A jackplate would help you would find your sweet spot even a manual one. Trim tabs are always nice to have I would put them back on or get new ones.
You have gone this far may as well do what you have to.

Thanks ST!!! I've decided to try different props and if those don't work out then the tabs go back on. Those gauges were in the boat when I got it. I think those are OMC gauges, I'll look for you tomorrow.

Thanks for the tip!!! I'll do that tomorrow, that beats getting a cherry picker over here just to lower the engine. I gotta tell ya I was perplexed over that porpoising issue. Thankfully I had taken alot of pictures, damn thing was driving me nuts trying to figure it out.:brickwall:

ST those gauges I have are Faria(SP).

This morning I lowered the motor down one bolt hole, took the boat to the river after lunch, what a difference it made. The porpiosing went away, now I'm fighting loose steering. I need to bleed the lines again probably got air in them still. The other thing I noticed was the stern still feels like it will not break free, so I'm guessing this is why the trim tabs was added. After adding new filters the gas probem went away, the motor didn't die on me like last week so that's a good thing.
