This weekend: Saginaw River

Well, got out on the river today and went out to the bay... now that I've done it, never again! :pissed: no wake zones :pissed:
Almost had our day ruined with a nearly 2 hour ordeal at Hooters, then caught up with Buss, Fuel, and KCT11.
Had a great time running from Bay City down to Saginaw w/ Buss, although I think he was fairly bored staying around 50 with me. All in all a good day, PERFECT weather!
My wife took a couple videos, but they didn't turn out well. Maybe next time! (just needs a little practice)

I have been saying that for years.... The Bay is Garbage, it takes forever to get there, and unless you are in a BIG boat its no fun in that big water.

I also HATE the Hooters in Bay City. Service is very poor and the food is just as bad.

I rarely go into Bay City, I normally put in at 46 and run back and forth all day.

Mr.Buss and I should be out next Sunday.

no way man, the cross wind was to strong to keep it on the pad, and if i would have ran any faster on the way back i would have ran out of gas!!
Thanks to the line at the gas dock (big ole cabin crusers with 200 gallon to filll) ......... and my lack of patience

my ole lady got some really good pictures of your boat.

His SeaRay is running great! :rof:
Sounds like he ran into another setback that he'll be trying to get fixed this week- the thicker gaskets didn't do the trick. I'm sure he'll elaborate on that in his resto thread.

On the bright side, it looks like I traveled somewhere around 44 miles today, and probably used 9-10 gals. Not bad! I thought idling through all the no wake zones at 1100 RPM would have been less efficient than cruising at 3900, maybe I'm wrong. Still hard to feel bad about 4mpg. (Unless you're in one of those things that has wheels...)

I'm glad to hear that! I have NO pictures of the boat actually running on plane. We unfortunately got nothing, should have had the wife sit up front with a better view.
Great to see that fabled Predictor in person today- looks much sharper in person than the pictures. Wish mine had nice new gel like that...

man i missed out today! we got such a late start, I didnt want to get on the water and be there all late. The 4.5 hr drive home is no fun when your tired and burnt.

Nerd- the bay was eerily calm today, at least when I was out there for about 10 minutes. Besides the wake from some big boats, the river was actually rougher than the bay in a couple places!
Buss- Thanks for the new desktop background! Maybe once I get my steering tightened up I can get a little more air under the hull...

Calm Bay???? Thats rare, I wonder how far out you went. The main reason I never go that far is the no wake zones. I cant stand the slow speeds that long when I know I could be running wide open back the other way.

I wish I could have been out today. TOP you will have to make it back up here another day.

I don't know who the moron is that thought he got 4mpg, but that's obviously not right. Oh... that's me. Riiiight.

Not sure where I got 9-10 gals from, maybe the sun boiled my brain a bit yesterday. I used at least 12 gals, maybe 13. Still, 3+ mpg overall isn't too shabby!

We made it to about here...

Even though it was calm, the wife was freaking out. Just wanted to see the bay from the boat, now that I can put a check in that box there's no need to go back.

I'll definitely be back up that way soon, will be in touch.

hows fuels boat running?

It ran great for a minute.....untill my oil level started to rise again:brickwall:.....didn't stop the leak:brickwall:.....the heads and intake must not be the same angle causing the intake manifold to not seal properly.....it is going back to the machine shop this afternoon.:pissed:

On a different note, I did get a chance to get out with my old man on his sea ray and we met up with Buss and top enticer for a bit. It was nice seeing everyone and hopefully I will get to see you all again (in my mate that is).

Yea....I stopped going to Hooters long ago (unless you call an hour ahead for take out!) I go to Dockside at the Kingfish. Much better food, atmosphere, and waitresses in bikinis:drool:. The long no wake zones are only bearable when your boat is full of drunks making fools of themselves. It is fun to go skip some rollers in the bay, go to Castaways on the Kawkawlin River, and go party off of Bay City state park but it does make for a long day.

Sounds like that motor will be coming together pretty soon, it'll be sweet to see a nice mate that big. Last year I didn't even have my engine back together until around this time, and still got plenty of use out of it for the season- try not to stress out too much about it. If I was in your situation I'd be very eager to get her wet though!!

Thanks for the tip about the Kingfish- I'll have to try that next time.

THE KINGFISH SUCKS!!

hey fuel, i took your advice last weekend on that place, good food....., HORRIBLE service though..i sat there for over an hour to get some food, the people sitting next to us had to wait 40 minutes just to put thier order in...it wasnt evn that busy and there were tons of people workin', i just dont know what the deal was....im glad i had 2 hours to waste just for a turkey sammich

You'd think that given the trying times we're in, people would be working extra hard to get a good tip. (or a tip at all) I don't get it.

They sell more overpriced drinks if you have to wait for your food.......Anyone want to start a restaraunt? we could make a killling with good service, good food.....and of course scantilly clad waitresses. Castaway's is the same.....sloooow service. But they have you....where else are you going to go when you are in a boat?
