UNBELEIVABLE !!!

Ive been boating over 50 years and have never heard of this kind of crap. I'd take the ****er to court. If you hit him you would be there. Check for structural damage. Regel the whole deck so it matches. If it was me I probably would be in jail I commend you for your self control:thumb:Rick

thanks again for all of your replies and support
To those of you who think I might have been a little too soft spoken to the ass that hit me, I was just informed by my friend that witnessed this that the cop on the boat had his hand on his gun and looked ready to pull it on me if I didn't mellow out. Yes I was pissed (and still am)
Whats funny is this was the first time I had been on the lake totally sober and laid back. Guess I have to be drunk, loud and fast to be left alone.
Hotdaddy- the cove I was at is where the kettletown state park beach is at, a nice place to just chill when you want to. correction, it used to be a nice place to chill.
I haven't heard from anyone yet regarding the grab rail I need, it is the port side rail for a 1993 Persuader 219

Call the checkmate factory for the rail. If Mike can't get it, he will be the best source to tell you who made it at the time.

There are pieces that are simply out of production (starliner windshields for example), but a grab rail is pretty straight forward to have fab'd up.

rebuilding the engine again, sucked a valve this time
wonder if I can pin it on the cops hitting me broadside (HA HA)
It blew up one week after the P.T.109 episode. turning into a ****ty summer

thanks for all of the reply's
Yes, I did receive all of their insurance and other important info.
It was actually delivered to my house this afternoon by the head of the investigation, they could not give it to me yesterday because they said they were exempt from having to carry proof on board.
They are definately covering all of their bases on this, There was a state police sargent on the patrol boat and three ENCON police at the dock taking down all of the accident info.
SCT - I thought I was showing myself as a totally pissed and irate guy at the scene but the sargent told me he was impressed how well I handeled myself and that he would have been much more vocal if it happened to him.
Now that I have someone to pay for it I will be having my whole deck surface re-finished (I've been reading alot of the posts about aquabuff and was about ready to try it myself, now I don't have to) The grab rail should be replaced, can anyone tell me where I can find one. It must be in top condition to mach the existing one.

Glad to hear they are fixing it.... wow if it would have been me the officer would have found himself in the lake .. I would have walked right on his boat and gave him a swimmin lesson the old school way ~ swim or sink~ ;)

That sucks about the motor........try "your dumb @$$ officer hitting my boat rattled a valve keeper loose"......probably won't work but take those @#$%'s for all they are worth......I like the PT109 reference....that describes it perfectly but where the hell was the fog, there is no excuse in broad daylight.

Good seeing you the other day...

Like I told you at the sand bar, I would tell them that you were so upset and rattled after "the incident' that you forgot to trim up when you put it on the trailer.

This caused you to suck up muck, weeds, and crap into the motor, restricting water flow and overheating/blowing the motor.

Who wouldn't be that rattled after an incident like that. A big old center console hitting a "little Checkmate"!

Good thinking hotdaddy. Cops tend to be real sympathetic and motherly.

I doubt that he will be dealing with just the "cops"... wise a s s.

There will likely be some sort of administrative channels that he will have to take to actually receive payment.

Anyone that is willing to listen may be of help in this situation, because he absolutely did no wrong per the story described.

Good Point.... I hope he winds up with a brand new looking boat all said and done ~I think that it's a Great story for the local lake times type paper and the local news paper ~ let Everyone know about the incompetents of the water cops on respecting others property!
And hell get a interview with a local tv station ~winks~

on vacation this week and i will make time to get estimates on hull/deck repairs with plans to have repairs done after boating season. I have had my boat back in the water for two weeks now after engine rebuild. I did all of the work myself except block prep and still spent $4000. Had the engine dyno'd and it produces 601 HP at 5500 rpm and 640 ft pounds of torque at 3800 rpm. I could get a little more out of it by further advancing the timing but i prefer to have it last a while, and besides, I don't need any more HP. I'll let you know how I make out with the cops insurance company when I give them all estimates and receipts. It is really funny how they are avoiding me like the plague.

I came across this old thread and it reminded me of last january when my wife was making a left hand turn on a green arrow and got hit by a off-duty cop that wen't through on a red, lucky no one was, my 3 month old was in the back.

Any update?
Cops seam to come in all types, sounds like your guy was having a bad day or a jerk. Good thing there were others around to ensure fair treatment.

no estimates yet, I have pulled the motor to go over it during the winter and haven't had the time to drive it around to get it looked at.
I'm surprised this thread is still making the rounds.
John, did the cop that hit your wife find her to have been responsible or did he act like a real man and take the blame?

he tried to say she cut in front of him and give her a ticket for undue care and attention because he say's he flashed his light while going through the intersection, it was later determined that he was doing about 80 kmh in a 50 kmh zone and he was also off duty so why was he in such a hurry? she got off of the ticket in the end and we got $15,800 for a 5year old vibe that we only paid $22,000 for so we did pretty good, we had to use my reg cab truck for four of us for two months before we got the money so that was chitty. It worked out good in the end, bought a 09' AWD vibe, can't like in Sask with out AWD I've decided, if she would of had AWD she probably would have made it through.

Wet police are a pain in the ( l ) . There always seems to be one every year that wants to hassle me over my numbers. They say they are to hard to see. Well of course they're hard to see, my old jetmate sits very low in the water and the front flairs out quite a bit so the numbers are kinda facing down toward the water. They usually just check everything out and tell me to get a brighter color. I say "OK", but I only ever changed them once, didn't do any good so why change them again. Wet Police :irked: .
