"Wasted Income" 1986-2011 R.I.P.

On a positive note though, a couple thing I noticed ready this thread:

1. You have ALOT of friends and support!

2. Keith is a constant! (busting your balls, LOL)

3.And JIMWAY is at a loss for words!

Don't lose your sence of humor. It will get you thru this! We're all pullin for ya!
I am amazed at how many people have offered to take us out for a fix till we settle and replace her (if that can happen). I have even had people offering their keys so that I can drive. All these strange folk from the internet has become the best group of people that I have met, ever! Maybe thats because we all have the same sickness of boats......or it could be that we are all really screwed up in the head:rof:. I am leaning towards the second choice :thumb:

As for Keith.......... got to love our resident troll :welcome:

JIMWAY ..... loss of words..... I know, right!!!;)

Brian, WOW I'm so sorry to hear about the loss. You and the fam are always welcome on Mistress III with Michele and I. Hope you can get a new one lined up but I know it wont be the same. On the bright side Ross could always use driving some instruction and between his boat and mine we could somewhat satisfy your crave of being on the water.;)
I feel honored to have been tied up next to such a labor of love when you guys were down here a few weeks ago. Tina & Walter may have some pix of us running that day.

and On the bright side Ross could always use driving some instruction .

dude, i dont know what your deal is w/ me but i think you need to realize that your boat is 18' long....my 2 year old nephews could proly teach you a thing or two about driving that row boat. :shakehead:

I gotta add to the crowd and say, I'm real sorry. I'm on the other hand, very happy that you and your family are all okay. It could of been worse.

I did watch all of your resto, and I have to say it is one of my favorites. It gave me great ideas and motivation to keep working on mine. So if you want to look at it on the brightside, your dedication and drive with "Wasted Income" has inspired me at home to continue to work on mine!:thumb:

Even though the ending is tragic, it was a great looking boat!

Please let us know if you ever get any clue as to what happened. And even though i never planned on putting a fire suppression system in my resto, I may look into it. But as for now, i know to keep the tank full!

RIP-wasted income!

Sorry Brian but I have to do it.

So I was way wrong about the surveyor. Mr Horn is really a great guy that really knew his stuff. We ended up going over the entire boat and found a couple things that were wrong but could not point at 1 thing that caused the fire. We ended up chatting for quite a long time about everything. His family lived only about 2 miles from here. Politics, LOL. his background. Planes, trains, and autos!!!! I mentioned that it was boat of the year 2010 on here (major plus for me) as well as the build thread. I have to provide proof of the "performance parts" to him in the next couple days so he can come up with a value for the insurance.

Things he found~
1~ i had a small sag in the fuel vent tube. It was USCG approved hose. Fuel could have sat and weakened the hose.
2~ No fuse at battery. Never had one since I owned it or there could have been one that I did not know about and its to burnt to know now.
3~ (no effect with this) automotive air cleaner. Future ref.
4~ (no effect with this) automotive dist. Future ref.

My understanding of his thoughts were~ a short in the wiring going to the front of the boat. This short burned until it hit the vent hose that had fuel in it and might have been weakened. This caused the boat to become "roasted income"

Here is another thought. A smoke alarm is NOT explosion proof. You can not install one in the engine compartment per Mr. Horn. He educated me on what can and can not be done to prevent this again.

Lets see what he comes up with for the value....

What was his reason on no smoke detectors allowed? Was the automotive air cleaner not allowed because it's not a good spark arrestor?

Brian...the pictures are just terrible! Call me if you need anything.

Maybe your 2 year old nephews can teach you how to use a gps before next years Cumberland rally so you're not afraid of getting lost

The smoke detector is not explosion proof. Anything electrical must be explosion proof under the hatch.

Yes, the air cleaner can catch fire if there was a backfire through the carb. The flame supresser is made of metal fins that let air through and will let the flame come out in the event of a fire. With performance engines, they are restrictive vs. an K&N filter that I ran.

Funny you edited you original post. I'll still reply to it since it was news to you about getting lost?

call me out anytime brian, i will explain what i meant. as for conley bottom too far, when you called me and needed a jack your boat was broke and i was told that it was some 25 miles one way to get up there, never being on the lake before i didnt think it was a great idea for me to take off by myself as i didnt know where i was going. sunday-we had breakfast at state dock and decided to get a few of the 12 hours under our belt on the road, i guess if your pissed about that then sorry you feel that way. all my intesion was in this thread to try and get a gathering together that the guys from the great white north could attend. after seeing there thread and the time they had i figured we could posibley have a gathering in more of a nuetral location as well as the cumberland rally. like i said before not trying to piss anyone off, i was simply looking for advice. i guess i didnt realize i needed your approval to try and put something together:poke:thats enough for now, off to work. :thumb:

Must be that selective memory thing going around? Apparently you didn't have the balls in your "big" boat at Cumberland. Oh wait, Chris and I rode half way across the lake in our little row boats... where the hell were you? I don't think that's hiding behind a keyboard.

And if you want to kick my ass, pick a number and stand in line bud. :bigthumb:

i like how you and your buddy road all over the lake together.....i was more worried about something happening and no-one being around to get me back to my truck/trailer. oh yea i did drive 1500 miles unlike anyone else on this board. as for kicking your ass? remind me when i said that? i have no problem driving 1500 miles pulling 6k plus lbs let alone driving 1500 miles not pulling anything to straighten out a "keyboard" muscle match....go boating and learn how to drive your lil squirt gun so there isnt any excuses next year when i am down that way.

back on track for now:sssh: sorry brian;)

Mann you yankees are uptight, plus it is hard to keep up with outboards I will give you that. Dont forget about your loud exaust giving you a headache and a ringing in your ears (BTW get that looked at would ya). It was very nice for you to be concerned about BRIO driving skills, you should give him Brian's # so he can schedule some seat time with him.......that would be very special !!!;)

OK I'm done now Sorry Brian I just couldnt resist.

Brian, I'm so sorry to hear about this nuisance in your life. However, I'd like to emphasize, as have so many others that this is just a nuisance in the Grand Scheme Of Things.
If G-d forbid your health or bodily parts, or anyone else's were involved that would truly be a loss.
I'm so glad to hear that you and your loved ones are safe and well.
As for the material possession- you had your fun and it's sad to lose things.
If it becomes too painful to lose the objects of our obsession then we are in fact owned by them and not the other way around.
Again, I am so glad to hear that you are safe and well.
I'd also be sad if my boat was gone but I would get another.
Take care bro. There's plenty more boats in the sea. May you live and prosper sufficiently that you sample many more.
