Windshield frame foam insert & gasket?

SippyRat

Well-known member
My frame gasket and foam inserts are dry and crumbling. Anyone know of a good resource for these? Probably goes without saying but the windshield is a Taylor Made.

Taylor will sell it to you but they will hit you over the head with a $20. Handling charge just to walk out to the warehouse and get it on top of any shipping charges. The one I found from Taylor was the same as my original hard plastic ones. Great Lakes Skipper had a similar one made of rubber but it was too wide for my application. They sent me an inch long sample to test fit it.

Don't know if any of this is what you need, but it might be a lead.

searched their site before I posted this but most if the inserts are vinyl. They do have one foam style but it doesn't look like mine at all. Also they do not list any type of gasket that I could see. I will call them later.

Send Doug a check, I'm sure he'll send some of his scraps down ;)

:D I believe CM stopped using these windshields long before DS came along.

I need it also for my 253....

I need some for my Pulsare as well but been to busy to research it. Can you do the leg work for me? :D

I need same thing. No luck so far finding a replacement.

no problem guys. The sales rep said he believes the foam screw cover is obsolete but has been replaced with a rubber insert. I am waiting for a return call from customer service. I'll let you know

Thanks DropTop! We just got back from 6 days at our camper on the river and I really like the boat so far. The weather was perfect - dry and hot - unfortunately I only took these two pics. Too busy with other adult activities

My 95 pulsare and my dads 05 pulsare both have taylormade windshields. My 79 Predictor, my dad's 84 Enchanter and 87 Starliner also had taylormade. They didn't change brands on the pulsare until 08/09 when they changed the top deck. My buddies 09 pulsare has a different brand on it that is shaped differently. Here's a pic even though it's not the best but you can see the difference.

Great pic kalugs! No offense to your buddy but I prefer the old style Taylor Made.

Now to get back on track (solving the worlds problems here you know) The rep asked for the serial number from the windshield. I had know idea there was a small sticker with S# on it on the port side about even with the dash. I'll have to call tomorrow so she can cross it but after some measuring and a little atc250r GOOGLE POWER :) I'm pretty sure I located what I need.

Nice find Sippy! What size do we need? I need to replace mine too, it's not falling apart but it's shrunk up and doesn't fill the whole length now.

it's shrunk up and doesn't fill the whole length now.

Sorry bud I can't help you there :rof:

The screw cover foam is 1/2" x 3/4" and the gasket is 1/4" x 3/4"

Mine is crumbling so bad that every time I brush it with a towel it leaves a chit load of black crumbs on the deck. Can't have that!

I wish mine was the 3/4 one. The old plastic ones are 5/8 and that little bit made a world of difference on fitment.
