Jeff, as I stated on S&F, it may look worse than it really is. There's alot of stuff you can hit in Lake Okeechobee and the waterways that surround it. The boat took on no water which is a real plus, you say the hull still feels solid and won't flex when pushing on the damaged area which hopefully means the core is intact and solid. It may only be gelcoat that pealed away. You can tap on the hull with a wooden mallot and listen for a change in sound..or you can cut out a "pie eye" above the repair to check the core and repair it from the inside out if necessary. Than just install an access pie eye to cover the hole in the floor above the sponson. AFR is on the west coast of Florida and can easily fix the boat correctly. Call me if you have any questions. Steve

Not really sure what happened yet. I'm going over to a glass guy in a few to let him look at it and get a quote on fixing it. Between this repair and needing an aluminum trailer this may be the end of this boat with me. :irked: Somebody may be getting a deal on a fixable hull.

I don't worry about what trailers look like...just as long as they're safe and do the job:thumb:. Don't waste money on the trailer as long as it works. As far as the boat is concerned, it's a great, fast, fun and relatively safe small boat with alot of room for the size. Don't give up on it...many guys had their Valero YT's running big numbers. The repair doesn't look so bad...I ran aground in Lake Okeechobee in my Pulsare once and spent a week on my back repairing black gelcoat chips and scratches!!

The salt is putting a beating on that trailer. I may just look for a used aluminium one. I talked to the guy and he told me it should be no problem to fix it from the outside and it would be $650. I'm dropping it off tomorrow so he can get on it Friday morning. Should have it back in time to get my 4" plate on before next weekend. Did you see that I broke the 80mph mark?

Make sure the repair guy is qualified to work on a high performance hull! The steel trailer under my AE-21 is pretty rusty also...I'll probably get it sanded down and spray it with duraliner. Congrats into the 80MPH club!!

He came recommended by a local with an allison ss I met on the river. I have heard good things from other's that I know that have had work done there to. I got almost 83 mph out it up on the Suwannee.
