ZT 244 in the water!!!!

Looks cold though. :rof:

Looks better just sitting in the water.....

Well if he says it runs that then that's what it runs. I’ll give ya your 70…for now. We're all running faster this time of year though, if you can get out of the marina.

BTW: Bravos are notoriously marked higher than actual. I learned this years ago from Brett @ BBlades Pro Props in Princeton, WI, and the guy that owns/runs Houston propeller.

Craig, How do you come up with these pitch numbers? If your motor is turning more rpm's or your boat is running slower at a higher rpm, how do you know it isn't slip? Just curious. boatman

I get the same as you if I use 26p: 26 * 4950/1.5/1056 * .87 = 70.69

I just threw in 25p and it takes it down to 67.9.

After realizing he was running in ice water, my gues is it wont' even run 67.9 this summer.

call me crazy, but i like it. maybe its because i liked the baja back in the day as well. looking good. i like the color combo:bigthumb:

i have ran by boat in some pretty cold water but never when ice chunks were floating around:poke:

You would have to throw in 24.5 or 25 in the calculation for the 26 Bravo, Bravos are usually 1” to 1.5” less in actual pitch then what is stamped on them….so you get 66.6mph to 67.9mph, which is consistent with what I’ve always seen these boats do.

100% TRUE!!!!!!

Before this gets out of hand I would like to let you all know that Mike C and I did get 69 plus and one pass at 70 MPH. The runs were few and short because it was cold.

Maybe the 70 MPH was because of the cold water? :D

Was that 69 and 70 GPS or dream-o-meter?? The only speed that should ever be shown today is GPS or radar, non gps speedos should be left in the 70's!! In addition, the ONLY way to properly prop a boat is with an accurate tach and GPS numbers...

Sorry did not see the pics till today shop has been real busy.

looks like it gets out of the water real well.. with prop and a little work it's going to run just fine.. you boys are having a hard with this because it looks like a BAHA .... ME TOO LOL can't wait to see one up close and see if it has CHECKMATE QUALITY. If this crossover is what it takes to keep Checkmate alive I'm all for it. In the last year we have started to expand into other areas other than pumps and drives systems to keep our shop going and it is starting to pay off. So maybe this is a EVIL that we will live with to keep Checkmate ALIVE

I will go with the cold weather. I don't make a habbit of running my boat in the dead of winter, but I do know from my drag racing days and a few trips to the track late in the year with temps below 30 that my car and everyone else's for that matter, were a good tenth or more faster than on a good hot summer day. I got a PM from Dean and that was gps speed. With that being said, I still think with a little prop testing and some tweaking after the motor is broke in, the boat will run respectable. Just my 2 cents. boatman

I agree too...those are respectable numbers for 375 HP...but lets see what that will run in the heat of the summer.

Cold really helps out alot. My current boat, ZT230 with 496HO/425hp runs about 200rpms and 3mph faster when the air temp gets down to around 50 or less. Only thing is, everybody else is faster, too.

HOT BOATING TIP FOR TODAY! Sneak an air conditioner into you engine compartment in the middle of the summer and then don't race the same people after the weather gets cold!:rof:Good thing about outboards, they don't suffer from temp change as much. boatman

i will say my outboard does! 2mph anyway.......water temps can change from 35* to 65* in 2 months though:eyecrazy:

Still looks like a football to me I and dont care if it runs 100. Thats no Checkmate I dont care what color you paint it, what seats you put in it, or how you rework the dash. Its still a Baja H2X.

see, i like the baja's as well. my father has had 4 of them, currently still owns 2 of them and they are great great boats. there fit and finish are very nice, id say nicer in many ways then my mate (in some aspects) so i love both boats, this may be the reason i like this boat. i always liked the hammer, and now with the new updates i still like it. i also must say i like allot of the small changes to mate since baja has been helping out. i think its all for the better, and throttle, as you say, be different. i agree to a point, and thats why chances are pretty good my next boat will be a 30 mate or sutphen depending who has what in the next year or 2 when im ready to upgrade. i take my mate out, and im the only one around:thumb:
