Fastest sub 20' checkmate hull

Hey all you checkmate fanatics, I want your opinions.
Out of all the hulls checkmate has ever made under 20', which one is the fastest? I am contemplating an eventual upgrade on my staflite in the future to a 3.0L Opti motor and taking my little brideport and putting it on something that is dangerous. I Like the predictor with a brideport that really flies, is there anything faster? more stable at high speeds? something that is very hydrostreamish with a high revving 2.4L engine...

I THINK A BRIDGE PORT ON A PREDICTOR WOULD BE FUN
BUT IF YOU HAVE A BIG OLE BRASS PLATED PAIR I WOULD FIND A MX 13 OR A PLAYMATE:rof:

This is my first post...

I have a 1984 Panther Vmate II with a 200 merc. This boat is a blast, but pretty crazy above 65mph. Does anyone know if my boat was a flip of a predictor or??

the v-mateII was pre-predictor. last year i think was 78 and the first year of the predictor. both have a pad and are around the same weight but the predictor may be faster due to the v-mate's seating being further toward the bow. however you could correct this with a bit more setback.

if you are building for speed i would stick with one of these two.

here is somthig to think about..............

i ran this through the prop calculator...................

6800 rpm, 1.87 gears, 32 hoss triton, 15% slip, 92 MP freakin H!!!!!!!!!

with my stock 200 i was able to turn a 30 hoss 6400 with 15% slip. I am sure you could turn a 32 6800 with that BP. :eyecrazy:

Oh man! I'm getting all excited!!!!!!!!

sorry I got you all worked up illmattic....hehe, If a 300 can push a heavy 1400 lbs boat to 90+ then i have no doubt my BP could push a light weight predictor to that speed. What about a starfire, if I didn't know the better I would say they are the exact same boat as the predictor.

not sure if a starfire has a pad but it is around the same size. you just dont see too many. i bet there are a handfull of boats in the 16-17 ft range that would do 80+.

I wonder how fast I could get my Pulse 170 to run w/ some mods on the 200HP EFI hanging off the back.:D

I might be a little biased on this one...but the predictor with a bridgeport is an awsome combo. This thing is wicked stable for a small boat. I just finished breakin the mota in and got 85.5 last week (yes illmattic, i know i need a hoss)....boat gets a ton of attention and is a blast to drive.

How fast does it go now with the 200? Those pulse hulls are heavy, the 185 weighs as much as my staflite.

SG I haven't gps'd the boat yet since I'm still messing w/ props and engine height. I can bury the speedo(80MPH)w/ the 25P Tempest plus I just added. The prop Calc, says I'm only running about 70mph. I can only turn 5800 rpm's since I've got a rev Limiter.

predictor is shorter than the v-mate ii. "the nerd" has the checkmate version of your boat. your's was built by quinn's marine in pefferlaw.

We had a panther on the lake with a 2.4 Bridgeport that would run into the 90's this was back in the mid eighties. And as stated earlier any 15"+ boat has the capabilities to run 80+ with right motor and setup.

A starflite is heavy but it's a very good hull, esp. the ones with a stepped hull. Then again you are looking at a sub-20' so they dont count. I wouldn't rec. this as it was not a stable ride, but i once owned an early 70's MX16 with a high strung tower of power 150 that saw 80mph with a vintage but well worked 2 blade bronze prop. I'm guessing the 150 was tweeked to 180+ hp but it was an incredible handfull to drive. It may have been a set-up issue, who knows. :shakehead: Good luck witht he search, i'm curious to see how it all turns out!

A fient of the family had an MX16 started life with inline 150 then went to a 175 then a 225 and finally ended up with a 2.5 BP. And as stated by Winter was quite a handfull but an extremely fun ride:thumb:

A 2.5 on an MX16?! YIKES!!! :eyecrazy: I'd love to know what speed he was cookin' at!
