Checkmates on the Chesapeake Bay?

hey are there any upper Chesapeake boaters. The original post was from some Pa. boaters and I wonder where they put in at. There are plenty of good ramps for trailer boaters on the upper chesapeake. Probably the best ramp is at the elk neck state park on the elk river. it is 4 to 5 boats wide and real nice. There are ramps on the northeast river in the town of northeast. You can put in at perryville on the susquehanna or go across the bridge and put in at Havre de Grace. The boating is excellent from the Susquehanna river south as far as you want to venture. There are plenty of places to hang out with a lot of good people. a few are Lloyds Creek, Still Pond, James Creek, Fairlee creek,etc. If you are into water sports there are good areas with flat water protected from the wind on the Sassafras river, the bohemia river above the bridge,between the islands on the susquehanna and many more. If anyone wants to get together to set up a weekend get together get back to me. I believe it would be fun to get a bunch of Checkmates together.

I put in at Anchor, we hang out at the Nauti Goose, chesapeak inn and all the floating spots. Also a large group of us go to Oneida Lake in NY for a few events. I'm in Lancaster PA

Thats right, the Third Annual Bumnper Bash will be held on July 25th 2009. I will have at least four or five checkmates with me. I no longer own my checkmate anymore but It will be there with me in my group.

never heard of a river in the bay. theres 2 sounds though. the pokomoke and tangeir. they both flow into one big ditch that dumps into the ocean, after they flow over those 2 tunnels people drive ther cars through.

Hey Smit,I plan on being there in about 3 weeks..Launched a couple of weeks ago at Northeast,,no one told us there was a small craft advisory,,It was a hell ride up by the lighthouse...

Hobie, that can be a rough spot(around the light house) during high winds.
we are there every weekend and generally start our weekends on thursday night or friday morning.
I saw a nice older blue checkmate in LLoyds creek last week(sassafras river )but didn't get a chance to talk to the guy.
I'll pm. you with my numbers so I don't miss you when you come down.
Sim is due for a trip out of new jersey too so we'll have to get with him.

Elkton is real close to us. Let me know when you are coming. I'll be there, I am there every weekend. Just got home about an hour ago and it was a gorgeous weekend on the bay. No wind, few clouds and a scorcher for temps.

Elk Neck state park is right there. It would be a great place if you are able to haul the boat and camper. They have an excellent boat ramp
