Checkmates NEW 40 footer

Stumbled upon it on someones FB wall. It was only on their for a good half hour and now the photo is gone. Hope I didn't get anyone ticked off.

I drooled over this boat 5 years ago when it was parked on a Saturday afternoon at Navy Pier. BIG attention getter.

Remember thinking how gigantic it looked compared to other Fountains and Cigs that were around of comparable length.

You know I think that boat was sitting in the back of the factory when I was getting my interior done a couple of years ago. I could be wrong on that but I think I remember the big chief head on the side.

Cool looking beast... but ain't no Checkmate regardless of what it says on the side. I am glad for Doug to do whatever it takes to keep the doors open so they can continue to make 'real' Checkmates.:thumb:

That is -- indeed -- pictured as it sits in Checkmates front parking lot at their facility.

That is their lot
!! :thumb: The field, the telephone poles and the tower in the background check out exactly where they should be in relation the Checkmate's lot.

Confirmed via Google Earth and Street View. That is their lot, so that ain't just some random boat picture.

Don't feel guilty, just don't reveal your source. I'm sure that one photo being the actual boat or not is enough to calm the community down for a little while. I'm happy to see it and I hope the builders and owner aren't too upset by this.

I feel very guilty. I think I may have gotten someone in trouble! :(

No one should be in trouble. Absolutely ridiculous to think that a 42 ft boat is out in a parking lot and a picture may not hit the internet. Just glad it's on here first where it belongs.

Glad you posted it for all the true Checkmate enthusiasts that are on this board who will, and always will continue to have very passionate, enquiring
minds.

well, if that is indeed the boat all i can say is WOW! that's amazing! and if it isn't the boat in question all i can say is WOW! that's amazing! awesome looking boat!

i dont know what your problem is but if its built in their factory and it has their name on the side of it... well it is what it is i certainly hope your problem isnt that the mold was designed by a world class boatman like bob saccenti
do you know how many guys in my boat club started out with checks, and none of em have bad things to say about em. they just outgrew the checkmate lineup this boat is a really big deal i have a feeling if it runs as nice as it looks it is absolutely gonna bring back a lot of the guys like that. i have a three year plan with my current boat and then i was planning on moving up to that size range this boat is definetly on my short list i wish them nothing but the best with this venture

OK, if I sell my boat, cash out my retirement and the kid's college funds, find the wife a 2nd job, and sell my plasma........dang I'm still 200K short!!

Don't forget selling the house. You can always live in the boat, you can't cruise offshore in the house though. :bigthumb:

Ok..a couple of things...that is a Chief. If you were viewing the boat from the rear, the chines would angle downward..almost knife like. There was speculation regarding how the extreme turned down chines would effect the handling of the boat at speed. The first time I saw a Chief was at the 2008 Miami Boat Show and a lot of guys were questioning Bobby Sacente about the chines. Not enough Chiefs were laid up at the time to gather any data. The next time I saw a Chief was at at the Active Thunder Boat factory in 2009. There was some talk about Active thunder and Chief joining forces at one time. Active Thunder needed a boat bigger than their 37 and Bob Sacente needed a quality boat builder to finish his hulls. Second...why the faded, barely visible Checkmate on the sides. If I were building the biggest, baddest Checkmate ever built, I would want the name to stand out loud and proud...

I've got no problem... I'm pretty sure that is what I said. The Checkmate made Apache is what it is.

Honey, the house has to go,:bounce: I've found a boat I must have. Also, not sure if I need a new truck to pull it. 3/4ton diesel ok or do I need DRW 1 ton?
