I am starting to make plans for a Checkmate Family Reunion for the weekend of March 21-23. It will be in Cincinnati, Ohio. I have already heard from many interested members and am starting to make accommodation arrangements. Depending on how many are coming, we will book a hotel suite or meeting room. I would like to start making reservations in a week or so. If you are interested please let me know here or post to the Event Facebook page and I will negotiate very reasonable group rates. Looking to make it a budget friendly get-together to kick off the boating season.

It is always a great time when we get together! Party will start whenever people start to arrive. BYO drinks and snacks. It will basically be a raft-up on dry land!

I am looking to arrange a convenient hotel with either a suite or meeting room (depending on number attending). So please sound off if you would like to come meet new like-minded friends or reconnect with old ones. Once I have a feel for how many will be coming, I will try to arrange group rates and inform you of the selected hotel in the greater Cincinnati area. Rates should be very reasonable. feel free to post/message if you have any questions.

Isn't that a bit early in the year? There is usually still snow on the ground in March.

NVM. Just read it over again. Not boating just meet and greet kinda thing. Sounds cool!
 
Drats! That's right. Oh well, until Lake Cumberland will we meet again then. Doesn't mean the rest of us cant have one heck of a bash!

For any of the new members that recently joined, these off season get-togethers are a great way to meet new people and we always have a great time. I took a chance and drove all the way down to Cincy several years ago on an invite from YF. Now I have many like-minded people that almost instantly became great friends and pretty much are now considered family in my book. Come join us for some (ok, a lot of) drinks and a lot of laughter, you won't regret it

Sounds like a good time Ron. Debbie and I are flying to Dallas for a week at my cousins house at Lewisville Lake March 25th. Its a big Texas size lake and should be warm enough for a good sunburn Im hoping. You goatlovers behave yourselves down there. :cheers::cheers:

There is quite the distance between those two points. For people that want to make a weekend out of it, That would be fun for Friday the 21st.....kinda on the way down to Cincy for me.
 
Bucyrus would be 2hrs closer to me in NJ - I might consider the roadtrip for that location.

I would love to attend! However i will not know if i can until closer as work is going to be a little unpredictable from now till prolly mid May on what weekends i am going to have to work. I would be ok with ether location. Cincy is about 2.5 hours ish for me and Bucyrus is about an hour more. Both totally do able!! :cheers:

As of right now the party will be in Cincy. I am yet unsure of the plant tour. Depends on interest.
 
If the weather is fit would anyone be up for a river or lake run one of the days? The 23rd is actually my bday and i like to try to make a point to get the boat out if i can every year! The way this winter is going its prolly going to be pointless to talk about it as the lakes will prolly still be froze over but just thought id throw it out there!

River won't be frozen. Bring a hat and coat. There's no decent lake around here to go to.
