2000 253 Convincer Interior completely shot

I have a 2000 253 Convincer and my interior is done!!! I am trying to figure the best way to go... this boat has seen amazing times but all in salt water (I am in the NY - Long Island area). Even my engine hatch needs to be re-done. Just wondering if anyone has tried to do this on their own or am I better off just going to a shop. The wood frames are all shot and falling apart... it's a bit of a mess. Does Checkmate make a pattern layout? I know I can buy new bolsters but they are grossly over priced and I am just not ready to shell out so much doe. Just looking for some insight.

Thanks.

Brian

Call the factory and order new skins. Previous owner did that to mine and it turned out great. I've also seen some really nice updated interiors done by companies, but I've seen some not so great work too.

You have a few choices.
The factory or a shop can do all the work.
You can do the wood work then have that covered at a shop or get factory skins and do it your self.

I re-did the front seats on my 253, the wood was killed...vinyl was stiff good, I took them all apart..very nasty and the wood was a whole lot worse when I got apart, was barely able to get enough pieces from both seats to make a pattern, there are many pieces of custom cut wood to each seat, took a whole day to make all the pieces and build the seat bases, and I had done this before, I talked to checkmate and they did not make the same bolsters anymore, but had a never version $$$$$$ and they wanted 1750 for the skins about 3 years ago... good luck, the bolsters are the big deal, rear a piece of cake...Rob

Thanks guys... We are talking totally SHOT!!!! Last time I had her out (last summer) pieces of the wood from the bolsters were falling onto the cockpit floor. Most of the screws holding the bolsters to the metal frames have fallen out so I would say we are pretty done with these. I am afraid that if anyone puts any weight on them that they are going to snap off and someone will get hurt... not to mention that they look like crap! I will eventually get some pics up. It's time for repower too so I have my work cut out for me... but I love this effin boat and I am not ready to part ways. Thanks again for help.

You are welcome to have my port seat as I've replaced both my bolsters with drop outs from a Cigarette Top Gun. I rebuilt the entire wood structure...
