this is what you will be running in if you go.

It doesnt look to bad but you have to remember thats a 28' boat coming out of the water. ;)

That is the old style 30, actually 30ft, later it became the 320.

Hea guys.....just wantd to pass on a few details , etc about this Poker Run. As some of you know ...we have had a customer appreciation day on friday prior to Sat Poker Run @ factory. This year instead of having that @ shop ....we are having it @ Lyman where run is. We will have a few boats in water for demo's.....prize drawings....clothing people there with clothing & accessories ,and a few other vendors. As for water conditions or boat size .......that is very hard to predict. Generally the bay is 1 to 2 's but can be worse & run goes out in lake and it CAN get very nasty ! But guys with smaller boats can come for friday and stick around for sat and get a ride from someone ,buy a hand , etc. Plenty to do in bay area even if you don't go on run .....sand bar is 1/2 mile from Lyman, Cedar Point right thier , and as posted before Put In Bay-Christmas in July is going on that weekend ! Plenty to do .......i just hope for no rain & not a lot of wind but i'll settle for no rain !

I think that's a good idea... have it at Lyman where the event
is hosted...sounds good... we will try to launch early Friday and
boat in to check out the factory day happenin's before heading
over to P.I.B. Lyman has a nice setup there to work with, a large
turnout at the factory could be troublesome parkingwise..
A large turnout would be cool, hope to see it!

hmm..

:sssh:not much feedback posted here since the date for this
years poker run was announced..wassup with that? too
early to discuss er what? anyone else planning to attend?

I am going to try my best this year! 2 years ago was a blast. Now I have a bigger boat and won't have to hitch a ride! boatman

Boy, i would love to make this run. and i would love to tour the factory. and july 25th is my 29th b-day. that would be a great gift for myself.

just a few questions as its 12 hours from here if i do this.
is there a place to stay near by?
how fast is the pace? i have never been on the lake befor and have no idea what the hell to do on it, would i be able to keep up and not get lost? boat runs about 60, i cruz 40 ish in good to fair water.

id love to do this!! info would be great.
thanks:cheers:

I am planning on making it. Any phone numbers on where I could stay at? Thanks in advance.

There's several ways you do this.1st there is plenty of motels with in a mile or two of Lymans marina.(big tourest area) Or you can get a slip for the weekend and be right there for everything.Once in & once out.The city ramp is only a mile or two from lymans marina. You could check and possibly bring your truck & trailer back to lymans if you worry about that.Theres plenty of big rigs that put in for the weekend at that ramp.

The tour of the shop is nice,But being on the water is what the weekend is about.Bringing Friday to the water makes the best sense of all!

If you try and make as early as possible Friday,I know of a group of at least 3 boats that are making a dash out to Put-In-Bay for the afternoon.

I think and feel with friday being on the water the people with the smaller outboards (myself included)can come and join the fun and make new friends for the day if not longer!

Heres the closest motels.Nothing fancy,But not a frat house either!
Cleveland st is the main drag clostest to lymans.

Date sounds GREAT to me & will be going for sure,People involved do SUPER job on whole event & will be nice having open house activities @ marina. No problem for smaller/slower boats to keep up-many boats of all speeds/sizes when I was there-ALWAYS someone FASTER.I cruised entire event when I went 40-45mph cause wife hates to get beat up & thats in 280ZT.Look forward to seeing everyone & lets make this a BIG event!!!!!

this info sounds great. i would like a tour anyway. if im going to be right down the road from my boats birthplace. i want to see it.:thumb:

if i left wednesday after work how would i set up a tour for thursday? then like you said, i could dump the boat in for the weekend. sleep right on it. im good with that. id like to have my rig in the lot of the boat yard just so when we did the run i could take all my silly stuff off so my boat isnt a huge mess i could dump it right into my truck. my rig isnt very big anyway. its a 08 chevy 2500 d max 4 door, but a small trailer. (28 foot maybe) to carry my 26 ZT

my boat is all done at 60, i could cruz 40-45 without a problem in a decent chop, the boat handles well. but i would love to join in on this. esp on my b-day weekend:cheers::cheers:

im going to have to see how work is looking and taking the time off will work out, but id love this.

whats the opinion on doing the run with my boat and having no clue where to go, and my GPS is a NE ocean one, so i wont have charts, gps nothing, and im 12 hours from home. lol think i could stick close enouph in between stops that i will find my way? i can set my gps to lay track it just wont have any numbers depth etc, so worst case i could turn around and follow my tracks i lay home.

this would be great. if i do it, id love to hook up with a local or two who could help me find my way around a bit from the ramp to marina etc. i'll have plenty off beer for those who help:cheers:

I am thinking about leaving my boat in the water and getting a hotel room. No need to sleep on the boat if hotels are close. Since I have never been there before, is this a crazy idea. After drinking, the next morning I will definitely want a shower.

Thanks for your help!!!

Jason

NOYZEE, you will be perfectly fine with your ZT26 and The marina has full facilities for overnite stays. The motels are only a 5-10 minute drive. But its thru "Downtown Sandusky".In my opinion that might be a more trouble
than its worth?

sweet. as it gets closer i will see what i can come up with. as for a shower. i have one on my boat. i have to stand on my platform, and atleast a pair of shorts should be worn. lol but hey, i can clean up.
i do weekend ocean trips all summer. just about evey weekend, so i put a 9 gall tank with a pump etc for shower. and i have a raw water thu hull hooked up to it as well. so i could always use lake water. lol

The area is saturated for tourism, so there's always places to stay and things to do available. If you want some "insider" info on local attractions, I'm very local (I set up camp across the bay on the other side of the rail bridge). The only other caviat to staying on the boat would be the weather question as the conditions on the lake and bay are notoriuosly very quick to change w/ little notice. I can give some direction or help if you need, but I can't go to the run as it's a work weekend (BUMMER). But if you're gonna play, you gotta pay and that means work if you can!

I am looking forward to another great poker run. I hope more of you make plans to come. It would be nice to have more participants. I would be happy to take a few of you small CM owners on my 270 to the lake stops if you did not want to venture out there yourselves, it does get hairy.

For those of you wondering, there are very nice showers at Lyman Harbor. The place is usually rocking with weddings, live bands, and other parties all happening at once. Anyone with a cuddy should consider sleeping right there on your CM, especially if you have a 300!

who needs a 30. lol 2-3 days on my 26 is easy. and thats with all types of good food and lots of beer:drool::drool:

I'm thinking about going this year. Never went before. Sounds like it could be fun. I would want to stay on the boat. Where are there transient slips available, (on the island)? Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I'm not familiar with the area.

I agree with you, noyzee, my family of four sleeps on my 270 almost every weekend throughout the boating season. Down at Lake Cumberland, we find a nice cove, anchor one end and tie the other to a tree and sack out for the night. Rarely do we stay at a dock.

But you certainly cannot do that on Lake Erie. The night of the poker run, pretty much everyone stays at Lyman Harbor. If you want to head to the islands, I would say that Put-in-Bay is the place to go. We never were unable to get a dock there. Actually, you don't get a dock, you tie off of each other, as many as four boats out. I think it's about $15-$30 a night and the dockhands are real helpful.
