2009 C-Hawk/Checkmate Poker Run

I agree with you, noyzee, my family of four sleeps on my 270 almost every weekend throughout the boating season. Down at Lake Cumberland, we find a nice cove, anchor one end and tie the other to a tree and sack out for the night. Rarely do we stay at a dock.

But you certainly cannot do that on Lake Erie. The night of the poker run, pretty much everyone stays at Lyman Harbor. If you want to head to the islands, I would say that Put-in-Bay is the place to go. We never were unable to get a dock there. Actually, you don't get a dock, you tie off of each other, as many as four boats out. I think it's about $15-$30 a night and the dockhands are real helpful.
thats what im taling about. i wouldnt want to stay out someplace on the lake tho, i would have no clue where to start. i would love to stay right at the dock, tie up with some of the good old mate boys and party it up. my system should rock the hole marina. lol

my buddy might come with us if we make it. he has a 25 outlaw but im guessing it wont make a difference, im sure the more the better:cheers:

Just looked over the flyer and it everything looks good. The factory is making a great effort at making this a premire event.Stretching the weekend to 3 days makes it can't miss event.
I'm looking forward to the weekend! Jeff:cheers:

I want to make it for friday for sure. I'll have to try and hustle up some funds for the run though.

How many boats participate in the run??

Yea....that will be a pricey weekend if I go......I will probably spend a night or two at PIB based on what I have heard about the place.

That's why I want to go.......Spring Break in July.....I think that's got a nice ring to it and that sums up what I have heard about the place.

looks nice. how would i set up a tour? call the factory? would anyone want to do a tour if i could get one going say thursday? ive never done it, and if im driving all that way, id love to:bigthumb:

JIM, are you going out to PIB on friday? I will most likely only hang around on friday and not do the run on saturday.

I would like to go by the factory as well. What if we did that first think Friday morning? I am looking at getting in on thursday night.

Jason

Not sure who or what would be available on Friday morning.I do know its about a 40 mile drive down route 4 to Burcyus from Sandusky.About 50 -55 minutes drive time.

yea, id like to plan on getting in thursday night. maybe stay at a hotel near the factory, then shoot over, dump the boat in and go from there.
im going to dig into it a little more when we get closer. owning a busnes and making a date more then 3 months away is very wishful thinking. im going to do my best tho, and follow this post and as it gets closer, hit up a couple locals for some help to get my but to the marina from the boat ramp:cheers:

I will need that help as well. As we get closer to the date, I will be in touch with you to see what we can figure out. I will touch base with Kip and see what his thoughts may be. I think it would be cool to check it all out while I am there.

Jason

I've wanted to get to the poker run since i first bought a checkmate, but the trip must be 14-16 hrs. How far do most travel to attend? Adding a day before and a day after the event for driving really adds up! I bet its a blast though!

It will be eight hours for me!!!!

I am thinking it will be a blast and be cool to meet other checkmate owners.

It will be well worth the drive and how many times are you going to get a bunch of Checkmates all parked together for pictures. I was sold when I saw the pictures of the boats all parked together--gotta check it out. It's about 3 hours from here, but I wouldn't hesitate to drive 15 for it. If you leave early enough, you'll be on the water for happy hour and I'll gladly buy you a drink:rof:

It's about a 6 hr drive for us. We,ve gone every year but last year. It really killed us not going, however this year we're going for sure.
Lyman Harbor is a great place to hold this event.
The factory tour was alway nice, but parking could be a challange.
Looking forward to hanging at the Casino this year.
