220 checkmate convincor -reviews??

My feeling is that I'd rather drive 14 hours one way to get the "right" boat that meets my expectations rather than settling for a boat that is "good enough" that is only four hours away.

This boat for example: http://sandusky.craigslist.org/boa/4334604036.html

I like it a lot: Great graphics, solid windscreen, maybe offshore controls, C-Hawk trailer

However is it fuel injected, how many hours, rather have a 502.

I think the price tag of $25,500 is a little unreasonable and a firm price of $20k is more in line.

That's 2.5-3hours from me. Wire the guy the $$ and I'll pick it up and provide tender loving care until you can make it to cincy to pick it up. Or I could deliver it to you in July at the rally. :thumb:

I am having a VERY hard tme finding a boat.
I would love a 242. NONE around. closest was Michigan 11 hrs away
I may be a bit too early still ?? I even posted a wanted ad on Craigslist
Most stuff is beat up or way over priced ..Or believe it or not the people
don't send me pics or even try to make arrangments to se the boats
I have to keep following up --When I sell things I am usually very accommodating--OK enough ranting --hahhahaha

Thanks!

Keep your eye out. You will find the right boat. I waited for a year until mine fell into my lap.

What about that 2000 259 Convincor out in Jersey? It was pretty slick. I think he wanted 24. http://jerseyshore.craigslist.org/boa/4319376124.html

Or this 242. It looks real nice. http://southjersey.craigslist.org/boa/4341550128.html

Make an offer on these. They have been for sale for a while.

Road trips to buy boats is part of the deal. I drove north of chicago and back to stl a in a day for the pink boat...now its in kentucky. My brothers first boat we drove stl to dallas and back. My convincor we drove to berlin center oh and back. The mastercraft we just got from columbus. When I askes my boss for a day off for this last one he said dont you kmow . They sell boats in Missouri too...lol

I looked at Ross boat and watched the vid .. Very nice boat sounds and looks great just too old for me.. I want at least a 1997 and prefer efi

Boat #1 is very nice good find... Will consider calling but very far away
Boat #2 had a deal on it went with cash-JUNK...pics are misleading
Boat #3 bottom paint
Boat #4 I spoke with him looking next week -looks good 40 mins away from me. 435 hours but maintained $3000 in outdrive repair last summer. Sounds like a nice guy no BS from the call. I also have 2 others I am working on. I do like that 1st boat you linked.

Thanks!!! Joe

#4 boat looks good but it might be a little anemic with a sbc.

The Chicago boat does look nice from the pics.

There was a 242 w- a 500 HP for sale in the low 20s awhile back. I'll try to find the ad for you.

Good luck-

I would steer away from a 220 with a 350 V8, that's like buying a Camaro with a 4.3 V6. The seller will tell you how fast it is, but its not. As the old saying goes, "There is no replacement for displacement", get a big block.

This one is for sale in the Amsterdam area.

This thing is pretty clean, he is in the same campground as me, Mine is almost identical but the 270

Didn't realize this was already posted on here. I have known the owner since we were kids. He is a stand up guy. Boat is clean and it never got beat. He has been trying to sell it for a while now.

I am a bit worried about the 350 mag in this boat. When booked it is a reduction and I think about resale , there is a member that posted on here and was very satisfied with his 22 with the 350 mag mpi. I am thinking the weight diff and close hp would make them a similar performance feel??! Mpg may be better on the 350 also? Wish I could try both but I am glad to get help from the forum..

Skip the 350. My 219 persuader had a 350. It ran awesome but I was always looking for more. Tried all kinds of props tried a few whale tails. I got it to run 62 by myself with no gas. Keep in mind thats shallower and lighter than that convincor. My new boat with the big motor runs 60 at 3/4 throttle. The power diff is incredible. Just my.02.

I have reports of speeds of 62-68 with a stock 350 mag mpi 300 HP
I would be ok with low to mid 60 if it planed well and got better MPG
Only 30 more HP with the 454 efi non mag and the weight diff not sure it would be that far off? Just some thoughts...???

Here is your question how fast can you afford to go??? Once you start pushing a boat over 68-70 your talking $$. And I don't really look at boating and think about gas mileage though it would be great I don't think it is realistic to many variables. My 496 seems like it guzzles gas one day, and others it doesn't. I think a small block is a reliable motor that you can get plenty of hours out of. Yes everyone wants a big block but your going to have to look at an older hull to stay in your budget. In the end the decision is still yours. IMO.

I can afford a max of 20K.. I want a clean boat well maintained. I know boats are horrible on fuel I have had 3 in the past but now at $4.00 a gallon you need to think about that unfortunately. I am fine with a small block if it is not a slug out of the hole and can pull low 60 on GPS. Curious on the diff between a 454 non mag and 350 mag mpi in performance I think they may be pretty close????

I believe so, probably in the 350-380hp range. You can probably google it. I know Jason took pretty good care of that boat. Look in the picture he had a matching golf cart.
