220 checkmate convincor -reviews??

Did you have someone look at it pre purchase? I would be scared to not see it first I have looked at some real beat up boats over the years advertised as real clean -mint ect..

No. I got real lucky. Bought it with Ebay app on my phone while driving down 90E into Albany LOL. The guy who owned it was a truck driver and brought it to me himself. He was a great guy. I don't know if I would recommend buying something like that sight unseen but like I said I got real lucky!!

You can hire a marine surveyor to inspect a boat pre purchase if your located far away. Another option common here is finding a local forum member and having them inspect for you, that has been done on here a few times.

Thanks for the info. I have always drove to look at my prior boats--made quite a few trips of 3-5 hours and left disappointed. That sucks when that happens even with pics it is hard to tell until you get there and see damage to the hull or areas that the pics were avoided. Just not as many boats around as there used to be. Probably due to the cost now days to replace them and I feel that has driven the used market to be proced well above book values-just my .02

Looks like I bought a 2000 220 with a 350 mag mpi. The boat is in nice shape and a real nice guy to deal with. Will add pics after I get all of the dealings done not picking it up until late April early May. Thanks all. The info helped on the decision and I really like the layout of the boat perfect fro what I am looking to do.

Congrats! i'm sure you'll love it. i'm very happy with mine. no problems with that size boat and the 350 mpi. and unlike most others doesn't chug gas.

If you have a bravo drive, the 350 mpi does respond whell to whipples/pricharger setups if you find yourself wanting more eventually.

Bought it local Amsterdam ny big brew knows the owner and said he was a stand up guy which I agree after meeting .. The boat is in nice shape and well maintained 350 mag mpi bravo all in all very pleased and looking forward to a great boating season

RGP111 I will be asking more questions I am sure after I get out an try it.. What prop are u running??? 22p mirage??

RGPIII--We spoke about speeds earlier was the high 60's on the speedo?
Have you done a GSP check? I am thinking 60 is probably realistic for that boat on GPS. Does it plane pretty good? Do you have trim tabs on yours? Thanks

I will double check again this year. I know I can get the speedo close to 70. but thats always been off. the previous owner showed me 68 on his gps. I've never duplicated it, then again I never remember to check on the gps when i'm out.

What is the limiter set at on those 350's?

Just for reference, I am hitting the limiter with my carb 454 non mag, 23P seeing 63 mph. It set at about 4850-4900. This is with a full boat and half gas.

Mine gets up out of the water real nice even with a full load. I have never run it by myself to check top end. I don't think I would see much more than 65 since I am already on the limiter.

my friend has 2000 454 mpi non mag 220 runs 64 on GPS - hios porpoises quite a bit no tabs. I bought one with a 350 mag was hoping to run close and not need tabs due to less weight on the transom? RGPII is the man with teh answers on the 350 mag so I am sure we eill get more info forthcoming

I've never hit the limiter on mine. so not sure what its set at. I've also not run it wide open but maybe once or twice. I however do have a small video clip of the wide open pass. ill try to load it
