2400 BRX vs 230ZT BR

As far as twins, I'm looking at Hayabusa's custom transom mount. And it looks like to me if you were to make the external vertical plate wider, mount the trim tabs on IT, then as long as the transom well was wide enough to accommodate both motors at full up tilt.... it looks like it might not be too terrible at all. Could maybe even do something along the lines of a pontoon/floatation mount.

2400 has stubby platform with spring loaded step. Heres what you want.

Why yes, that's almost exactly it!!! Except I seem to have fallen in love with this color scheme.....:

If you have the box, then you likely have one 300xs and just need to buy one more. That pair of 250's is cheap enough but they are 25" mids.

Yeah that's a fair point. I figured someone could sell their 300xs to pay for a set of low hour twins and rigging, transom plate, etcetera.

I was toying with the idea of twins for a while, me & my fabricator were taking measurements looking into raising the transom, etc, etc. I even talked with Chuck to buy his 300 but one day when I had her in the water I stood on the splash well with 3 other guys & gals to simulate an extra 600-700 lbs & wow that transom went way to low. Once when (always ) in the quest for more speed I had my 400 hung out almost 15", getting on plane was no problem but coming of plane if I didn't goose her at the right time I would have water come over my motor, no problem I said I'll fix that with ballast in the bow  I'm still toying with the idea

A 3 liter Merc is only about 475lbs. 4 people on the back is almost like adding 2 extra motors. I think a pair of 2.5 Promax 225's would work well.

I'd agree about the 280's except they're stupid expensive to begin with then they're a bit temperamental and require frequent rebuilding compared to the less hard core Promax. Either of them with an offshore mid will sound wicked though. Especially if it's been dry stacked.

300xs are 505lbs, plus the oil tank, them or 300x would be the only thing that would make sense to me.
Never ever seen a 280 but they sound fussy, not good for a pleasure boat.
Why put two 225-250s on when you can get one 400r at a ~300lb weight savings.
