86 Exciter Resto

I ended up getting home with just enough time before dark to get the sanding and fairing done. I sanded all of the high spots I could find and went back and hit all of the low spots poly fairing compound. Hopefully tomorrow when I sand out the poly fair I will find it to be smooth enough and be able to apply an addition coat of gel. I'm ready to move on and start the finishing work:banana:

I can see the finish line off in the far distance and I'm getting pumped about being able to splash her:surf:
 
I got all of the fairing sanded out today, and applied a second coat of gel. Tomorrow I'm going to pull it out of the tent/garage and clean off all of the dust and hose out the inside of the tent before starting on the wiring this weekend. nothing like starting in a nice clean work space!

Jet- Thank you for the compliment! The floor is going to stay white, and what you see is the finish. As of now, I don't plan to install a carpet, but that thought may change after some use. If I do add a carpet, it will be a removable one.
 
Today I had time to stop home for lunch, since for some reason I was 30 mins ahead of schedule. That never happens! I grabbed a quick bite to eat and went out and pulled the mate out of the carport for a quick clean up. I hosed off the bulk of the dust (basically only hosed the bow since all of the screw holes are still open) I took a wet towel and cleaned off the balance of the boat. There is still some dust, but most of it is off. I also went back in the tent/carport and hosed it out completely. Now I won't have fiberglass dust all over me from just thinking about going in there! I left her in the driveway to dry, but I will put the mate back in when I get home so I can start on wiring tomorrow:banana:

Today's quick update... Just got in from dinner at the in-laws, since we're doing tomorrow at my parents house. Little work, if any, on the boat tomorrow as we are Long Beach Island bound in the AM.

After taking care of yard work, I got to it on the boat. I removed all of the junk wiring and started to run new wire. I got the two batteries set, made up the 6 gauge battery wires, came up with a location for the battery switch and ran some of the other wires. I will let the pics do the rest of the talking. Oh, I also set the ski locker hatch for a flat surface to work on.

In addition, I will apply one more layer of Gel in some spots, including the ski locker where I stopped at the reach of the roller...

Those wiring diagrams look familar!:D My Enforcer looked the same way, had wiring abandon in place, different gauge wire, like a birds nest underneath the dash.

I wear slippers out to the boat and slip them off before getting in:D trying to keep as much dirt out as possible. At least my toe wasn't hanging out:sssh:

I took a lot of pics, and will continue to do so. I was a little overwhelmed, but after removing all of the junk wires it is simple. Robbie's diagrams help too:bigthumb:

New plan on the paint... One of my customers is going to do it for me. He does very high end auto paint and auto restorations. He decided he needs some work done on his house, so he wants to trade services, which I'm good with. Based on that, he wanted to see the boat before I just showed up and dropped it off for him this week.

He took a look today, and now wants to do things a little different. He will be taping off all of the metal flake and repainting all of the blue on the top deck. Once the blue is painted, he will spray four coats of some super pricey clear over the entire top deck, metal flake included, and bake it:drool:

I will drop it off next week:bigthumb: Should be done just in time for the arrival of my engine:devil:

New seats, switch panel and steering hub (not pictured) - provided by Wildman

I will need to fabricate some kind of mounting plates for the seats, since my new pedestals and the bolting pattern don't line up.
