CHECKMATE OWNERS RALLY 2015

What are you doing for lodging? I have been trying to rent a boatel but the Gridel Hill staff is giving me the run around. We may have some friends coming with us so we may or may not have extra room on our boat. Either way there will be plenty of options for you.

Have no clue at this point. Take it the house boat deal did not pan out. I will bring my tent and air mattress and go that way if needed or go in with someone for a rental of some sorts (hotel, cottage, boatel, whatever works) if someone wants. I am pretty flexible since I am pretty sure it will just be me again.

There's a houseboat again this year but we opted to stay at the dock this year. I have been trying to book a boatel but can't get a solid answer from Grider. We will see what happens.

I just tried to reserve a covered slip for the weekend and they said they no longer take reservations for slips. With the great fun I had last year dealing with slips, I can't wait for this....

Somehow got off the list :thumb:...

I just tried to reserve a covered slip for the weekend and they said they no longer take reservations for slips. With the great fun I had last year dealing with slips, I can't wait for this....

I may require a covered slip also. If I don't get a boatel then I want a covered slip close to the marina.

I confirmed with Grider that unfortunately they do not reserve slips in advance but will have the 15% discount in place for all guests needing slips, rooms, houseboats or boatels.

It all works out and is always a good time. Just keep your expectations low when thinking of smooth efficient customer service and you'll be fine. I have found them to be very kind and agreeable though.

I just want my boat to be protected or at least undamaged, the rest is gravy

You'll be fine, they have plenty of covered slips just refuse to reserve them for some stupid reason. I like Grider but they're customer service and communication is crappy. If another marina offered the amount of covered transient slips and the pricing Grider does the rally could head to another place... We have shopped around other marinas and so far the pricing hasn't been beat.

Checkmate has once again agreed to be an attending sponsor of this years 2015 Owners Rally !!! We will have a 73' houseboat that will be our hub of activities for all of our guests and a good place to grab some Checkmate swag to show off!! Dean & Kip will be in attendance this year so bring your ideas and your checkbook for that new Mate you have been holding off on ordering. We will be anchored at beautiful 76 falls and will be having a meet and greet with dinner and beverages friday evening and Linner, Lunch/Dinner saturday afternoon for all. The wonderful crew of ladies we had taking care of the food last year will be there as well to make sure all bellies are full:thumb:
We will post a plan of events for the weekend within the next few days which may include a first annual "best boat" competition for some nice Checkmate swag. So make sure all of you start polishing your bling now !!!
Brian, Dave and Myself would like to offer a huge Thank You to Joe LoGiudice and Dean Reynolds for making it possible that this years event will be better than ever. We are looking forward to seeing all of you again next month!!! :surf::bounce:

Grider does guarantee a covered slip to all folks that have a room booked at the resort. So no worries if staying up on the hill and they always have open slips all over the place that weekend. If you get there midweek like we do you can pick any slip you want . A great place for the rally . It seems as if the entire staff leaves early evening and then we get the place without any smack .:cheers::cheers::cheers:29 more days and we are there .

I was not able to make it last year, but did the two previous years and spent some time around everyone, and at my advanced age (maybe a trinket for the oldest attendee??? bought my first mate in 1977!!!) I thought Grider was unorganized but very friendly, and that as a group everyone really enjoyed the time spent together. The only argument that I remember was at the docks when a non Checkmate dockee attempted to tell us that we did not have the right to dock where some of the group was located, but even that got resolved and everyone ended up hanging out a little. But I certainly appreciate the time Jeff, Dave, Brian and others I am not aware of have put into this over the years, so come be patient, relax, and enjoy.

Regards to all,
Chuck

That was Baja boy with the slip near Jason Martin. I have talked to him since then and he's actually a nice guy.
