Checkmate Regatta/Poker Run In Ohio

I second the notion on Hot Boat! PFFFTTTT!! They sent a renewal a few years back and I sent it back with a note that they should market their rag as colored fish rap!

I think F&P would me much more likely to have an article to be proud of. Maybe Trailer boats also?

How about setting up a factory tour for people that would like to tour the factory. I think Checkmate is only about 40 miles away from the meet.

Recieved my packet today. A few words here. That Lyman harbor is located just east of the cedar point causeway and the 4 hotels that are located on Cleveland Blvd. (Route-6) are less than a mile to the south. The boat ramp is located less than a mile to the east of the harbor.Everything is located very close together and there is many-many other attractions in this boaters paradise.

That's a great idea...i was going to mention it but you beat me to it. If anyone wants to come friday and see the plant on the way your more than welcome ! We are less than a hour from Sandusky.

That's an awsome idea.. I recieved my packet yesterday. i will be sending the money and info asap. Can't wait to see the factory..

Hey Kip, I'll be in Sandusky Thursnite. Whats the earliest I could come by Friday morning.I hope to make a quick morning vist.( leaving the wife sitting at the hotel pool) and get back on the water by early afternoon and over to the round house before the bands second set. THANKS

Wow, I would love to go to this and I'm only a couple hrs away, but I'm not sure if my little 15 footer would be safe. I've been on the ferry on a nice day and it was scary, BIG waves on that lake.

Regarding the 15 foot boat: We are going to keep the poker run in the bay area, where the water is alot calmer. Remember: this is not just a poker run, it is also a regatta. We would all love to see the finished product of your hard work. Regarding the question about noise: Yes, there is a noise law in Ohio, but we are working with ODNR, the Sandusky Police, and the Coast Guard to get this lifted for the event.

Ok, So where is most everyone staying?
We will be driving from Dallas, TX to be there friday morning for the factory tour!!
Hope the Diplomat I/O is enough boat for the run.

Guess I better get some propane for the grill. Ya'll can come over and have some burgers and beverages after the tour. I'll talk to the people that own the Church behind me maybee we can have a parking lot regatta Friday afternoon and evening.
Then everyone can caravan up to the lake in the morning.

Damn Big Dave,
My sis lives in weatherford, and from western ky to her house takes 12 hours. From my house to erie takes 10.. I thought i was gonna win the prize for the longest traveled...lol...damn the bad luck... Hey be careful, and look forward to meeting you.. Cookout sounds great coop....

Hey dave,
I just saw you are from greenville, can you tell those state rods down there to not right me anymore tickets when i fly through there on the wat to see my sister..lol.
Ive got 2 there so far. They are some workaholics....haha

Big Dave,Hope you make it.Years ago I trailered my starflite from Detroit to Lake Havasu for a hot boat reggetta. 2200 miles each way, 38 hours of drive time.

AP, The closest campground would be East harbor state park.
Its Ohio largest, with 300+ eletrical sites and 200+ primative sites, 1500 ft beach on erie. Full boating capabilities in a protected harbor.Located only a few miles from lyman harbor just on the other side of marblehead point. you could put in there and come around the point and be at lymans in 5-10 minutes.just do a search for east harbor state park ohio or just ohio state parks.

P.S. I made hotel res. but might switch and do some camping myself.
