CHECKMATES NEW 43 FOOTER

I was just thinking about a semi poor man's version of the 43'........dual 525s, Bravo drives (with upgrades), no cabin (P-Run version), standard helm w/ gauges, and basic CM gel paint job.

I still couldn't afford one, even then........just thinking out loud.

my mind has been turning in the same direction as yours has best ive come with is to buy a plain white one no paint w/o motors just a finished cockpit interior and then just have a pair of motors built locally and slap on a set of those new imco scx4's from what ive seen the merc 700 package is around 100k per motor and drive i figure that is the biggest place to really save on some money

I don't really know, but do you really think a pair of 525's would push it sixty?

Here's a thought do you think a three engine set up would be worth while? Can it be done? Three reliable stock 525's? Probably to much re-rigging and configuration to the hull.

What do you guys think?

What's 400K between friends?

You guys have got the entirely wrong approach to this.

Forget the stripped down, all white small motah approach.

No, what you need to do is get it fully, fully equipped, with every bell and whistle imaginable.

Then what you do is you convince your spouse, that you've always wanted to live on the water and this is actually just a performance house boat!

That's what I'm talking about.

Hon...

I was thinking I've hiring a painter to paint the house and freshen it up a bit....

He's supposed to be really good I heard....

His name is Mitcher T! :rof:

And I've found us a restoration specialist, I think the name was "Checkmate restorations", I've seen their work. When they are done with the house you won't recognize it.

Just a little FYI story to all you boat lovers around the world......

Back in the 1990's I did exactly what Chris is recommending....I convinced my wife that the 32 foot ChrisCraft sitting on a triple axcel trailer that showed up in our driveway being towed by a Kenworth one Saturday afternoon was gonna be our way of owning a 2nd summer home on the water, along with being a yearly vacation saver.

Well, I was divorced the very next season {happily}-- and went on to enjoy many years of beautiful offshore boating in my C Craft before selling it in 2001 {Oh I miss that boat :D} .

Fast forward to today....I have sinced downsized a bit to currently owning a 22ft Check, --- my EX wife lives in the same town as me and recently saw my Check in the driveway ---- she stopped in ...... said it is a gorgeous boat and then asked for a ride when I put it in the water, --- I replied with a resounding --"not a chance".

Since 1994 I have been very very much enjoying my boating summers here in NewEngland, and have been blessed with the companionship of mature / intellectual / professional / bright spirited / thong bikini wearing young woman who really like me for who I am ---- a self centered / materialistic / narcissistic / over 50 victim of fate.
As with every year---I can't wait for summer

So the moral of this story is......
There is no moral --- I just wanted to brag
