Could be like my problem, boat gets up on pad and driver can't deal with chine walk for long enough to see what the boat really has in her. My boats only been to 74mph on the gps. I need to get the last of the air out of the steering and more alone time in the boat.

With where I am now in my '82 251 outboard restore (just took out the 96gal gas tank today), I have to say this is a cheap way into a great boat.
Probably needs virtually everything doing (like mine), but if I can do it, anyone can!

Yes - comical. When I got mine, it already had 2-3yr old fuel in it (the seller was honest and said the $4 gas prices stopped its use in favor of a single outboard boat he has).

I drained every drop out of it and replaced all fuel lines before the first startup and run back in November.
Luckily the inside of the tank was clean, so I didn't have to wash it.

This boat needs the same treatment. The engine probably needs a good service as a result though also.
