I drove for two days one way (Edmonton Alberta to Madison Wisconsin) to get my boat. If it's the right boat at the right price and you can get someone to check it out before you drive, then the only reason not to is you already live near a bunch of great boats at the right price.

I'm no stranger to road trips... the "right price" in spring time. Yeah.

Put in for transfer to Hawaii, waiting to hear if I get it or not in early May. I'm sure prices will go down even more when the sun actually shines for a day or two. :brickwall:

Hmm, not sure if there are any Checks in Hi. I didn't see any perf boats when I walked the marinas looking for them. I didn't really know where to go so maybe there are a bunch. Maybe you could be the first, start a Hawaii chapter!

Im kinda with you Dave! if i didnt already have a project Enforcer I might be all over that no power 251! but i think that picking up a second major project boat would not go over so well with the boss lady...
 
That persuader is a smaller boat, it was replaced with the ZT 218br for a number of years but is no longer made. John Lamon's Father has one in closed bow configuration. The 218 is a little tight but with the open bow not as much.

That price is low enough to make me think scam, but the add reads well, so worth a look. I just can't look into it myself with two boats already. Interested to see if anyone picks it up.
 
I responded to an ad for a pontoon the other day. Price was good but not stupid cheap, and was well written, phone number provided to text (should have been my first clue). Ad was in 4 CL locations from Albany down to NYC (2nd clue). Texted about it although a little suspicious, was told poster put ad for a friend (another clue but lots of people aren't tech savvy enough to), emailed "friend" and still no straight answer as to where I can come look at it. She claims she's a recent widow, needs to sell boat, I should send money via Google Wallet and she would ship it to me. Definitely a scam at this point but I continue to push for an exact location. She says it's in Topeka, I say coincidentally I'll be there on business and would save her the shipping by picking up in person. She says she has no time, I should pay by Google, I told her I would inspect the boat and send Google payment on the spot and unless there's something fishy she should be OK with it. Never heard from her again.

All the emails were relatively well written in decent English.
