Almost time to start testing. YAYYYYY!!!
Been in a pet friendly hotel (8 mnth old choc lab pup threw up 3 times last night!)in Cincy 1 wk and one to go. All goes well, we close on the new place this Friday.
Fingers crossed.
Had a V-8 bought until discovering it had a bad cylinder and gave it back.
The 3.3 got loaded in the moving truck and is in storage somewhere waiting on us.
Have run the boat a couple more times and w/a light load I've seen 61 indicated. Hull is still glued to the water. Either the motor needs to come down (no tools to change, to this point) to give the prop bite or that prop goes bye bye. I voted for the latter.
I bought a 23" Merc Tempest (14 5/8") diameter and drilled if for a JohnRude.
We are 15 mins east of a nice inland lake (Ceasers) for testing and I'm dying to get started hopefully next week. Weather (now) is near perfect and the lake is vacant through wk.
Will change props first and see what I get.
Then into the new barn where I hook the lift to the motor and install 2" set back spacers and re-test.
After that I'll pull the spacers and mount the 10" hydraulic plate. This will take some work as I don't think I have the sloop in steering cables to move the motor that far back. I have a Seastar ram on the 3.3 that Ill mount to the 3.0 and convert the boat to hydraulic steering and re-test.
At that point the 3.0 will be done, retired and replaced.(anyone need a virgin/classic 225?)
The 3.3 will need broke in an dialed as it is a totally unproven package and will eat some additional time. Depending on work, it may be Spring before it comes to life.
If it doesn't get the job done then I go V-8 shopping. Again.
I'll post results here.
Good or bad
