HemiBee's Rare 28' Outboard Convincor

Another sweet ride.

You should start a new thread in the open boating forum and lay some more pics on us. :)

Merry Christmas to all!

Ran across this old thread and brought back some good memmories. The Checkmate is still around but sitting unused for several years but well covered. I sold the Cig and bought a MTI 40RP in '09 and have not run the Checkmate since.

I have a sale pending on the 260's and interested in letting the Checkmate go to a good home. The interior is out but complete. The front bolsters need new wood and the hatch on the bow needs replacing. Triple axle trailer with fairly new tires and needs to be painted.
Boat is solid with new floor, fuel tank and aft stringers and knee braces. Some photos of the work back at the beginning of this thread. Just too many projects and hate to see the Checkmate go unused.

On vacation next week so if the weather permits I can get some updated photos.

$2,500 like it sits for boat, engine brackets and trailer. Let me know if interested.....

Hemi, $2,500.00 is a great deal for someone on that boat.

Good luck-

I agree! thanks

I just don't have time right now to put it back together plus my boating direction has changed. I'd rather one of the Checkmate Crowd take it on and enjoy it. Thought I'd throw it out here for a quick sale before hassling with Boat Trader or Craig's list or that other place....

Ned and Steve, sent you both a reply. Thanks for the interest.

Hemi, I checked my inbox but have no reply. I can be reached at:

hemibee, i was looking at your setup from before. when you were measuring the prop shaft height. were you measuring from the very bottom of the vee or in front of the nose cone. i have the same hull except not the race version and trying to get the setup right. when i first bought my boat it ran in the mid to upper 60's. i changed the setup and have not got back to there since. im running my lowers 4 1/2 below the hull in front of the nose cone and have major prop slip. if you remember anything from the setup and could give me some help it would be very helpful. thanks

I've always put a staight edge on the bottom in front of the nose cone. Measuring from the bottom of the V would put you too deep.

do you remember when the boat had the 200's on it were the props spinning inwards or outwards. thanks

I'm surprised at the number of replies I've received. Here's a little more detail about the boat condition and what is included.

Boat is complete other than engines which I am selling separately.
The interior has been stored in my basement and is in good shape.
Basically it needs the cabin and cockpit interior installed and new headliner material glued on in the cabin and a new Bomar Hatch.
Front Bolster seats need new wood but the upholstery can be reused although dated.
It has a full canvas mooring cover that has seen better days and I also have a cockpit cover (will have to check on condition as I have not used it in years.
Gauges, throttles, rigging is included, I’m sure it will need new fuel lines and batteries. (There is a battery charger and Portable GPS I am keeping for my CC).
Triple axel steel “C” channel trailer, tires where new around 2008 that probably do not have 500 miles on them.

I do have some 2.4 stuff I will be selling but need to get a list together (2-lowers, 1-25” mid, 2.5 cowl, props etc). Would be ideal for someone with a pair of outboards.

I’m going to post it on local Craig’s list after the 1st for $3,500 but thought I’d put it Checkmate forum first. Can get some updated pictures next week.

We had a lot of fun with this boat and went all over the Chesapeake Bay. Always wanted to redo it but priorities have changed. There were only about 10 with the outboard option made.

Feel free to PM with phone number if you want to discuss.

Thanks!
