HOW FAST IS YOUR CHECKMATE? EVERYONE!

I must have the only two accurate boat speeds on the planet. My Glassmaster ran 47 on the speeds and GPS, my Checkmate runs 62 on speeds, 63 on GPS.

97 Persuader 219 w/ Procharged 7.4/bravo 1 w/ cone turning a 28p bravo. I haven't gps'd it yet, but I can bury the 80mph speedo at 4600rpms. Stock engine w/ Procharger. I figure around 450-500hp. Any thoughts on how fast this boat should run?

I sold my 1993 Persuader 219 this year, don't think anything changed between 93 and 97. I had a mid size blower on a 461 dyno'd @ 601hp
sporting a labbed 26p bravo one on a 1.36 geared bravo-one drive.
Best GPS speed was 84.5 @ 5500rpm. (the motor was internally balanced
and built to handle up to 6500rpm)
The boat was not easy to drive fast but thats what made it fun.

2000 259
540 na dynoed at 690 hp with car headers and no accessories.
I have hit 81 @ 6100 rpm with a 24 pitch, going to try a 26 and 28 as soon as spring gets here.

Finished Season Running Scream and Fly

My 496 started getting broke in bye the end of the season in my Convincor, where with the cooler temperatures,I was turning a Bravo 1-26 Lab at 5200 rpm's,getting 75.8 on hand held GPS,which is not bad with a TRS and Borg-Warner Transmission!!! I did notice a 300 rpm drop on warm humid days, dropping near 5 mph,but thats to be expected on those days!!! My thoughts are to add CMI or Lighning headers for next year letting the engine breath better along with adding some horsepower, replacing my Gill headers!!!! It is a lot of fun outrunning some of the newer boats with a old heavy 1984 boat, but still looking good doing it!!!

1981 21 ft enchanter w/merc 200 24p 4 blade trophy plus no set back...gps 69....wondering how much more the 10 inch set back will add :sssh:...speedo says 75....

i have a 79 predictor with a 150 merc xr6 mounted to a 8" hydraulic jack plate. I got it to 63 mph with a merc 5 star prop. Im expect somewhere in the low to mid 70's once I put the right prop on it....hopefully by next summer. I also plan to remove the oil injection and move the battery to the front on the boat which I suspect will help the boat with porpusing, allow for a better hole shoot, and allow for more trim adjustment.

1981 Enticer. 54 MPH with a 23 pitch SST prop at 5500 RPM . No set back , no jackplate. Johnson 90 with 140 heads and carbs and Boyesen reeds. Should have the new 140 in by the end of the week.

Starliner, Flite speeds

Gents, How fast do the Starliners and Flites run, and with what setup? I am curious, and of course just wanting an idea what to expect from a Starliner.

Thanks for any input,
Chuck

1981 Checkmate Enticer.

140 Crossflow V4 22 Pitch Raker 60 MPH on the GPS at 5900 RPM . No setback, no jackplate. None of that stuff.

1986 Exciter with a 1986 Mercury XR2 with some work done

Best speed to date is 65 mph

setup and load for posted speed: 86 18'-6" Exciter, 10" CMC Hydro jack plate, 150 2.0 XR2 with some work done to it, 1.87 lower with Bobs nose cone, 23p Mirage Plus, 30-32 Gallons of gas, 2 guys (450-500lbs), full gear (150 lbs) 6,900 RPM's

I think I will hit 70 mph with a better prop and lighter load...

We were doing some radar runs and was clocked at 69 with 4 of us, full of fuel @3500rpm women screamin for their lives. Went back out without the girls 2 of us full fuel and hit 82 @ 4400 rpm 27pitch 4 blade Spinelli. Im shooting for 90.

ive always wonderd
why do they scream like that?

It was pretty rough on the water but I had my cop buddy lined up and had to make it happen. Suppose to try again this week by myself and not so much fuel..

Not trying to start anything, but either the tach is off, the prop is steeper pitch than 27, or the radar gun is off.

Thats a -9% slip with a 1.5 ratio, or 1% slip with a 1.36.

Hey daniels it is my labbed 28p 4 blade Spinelli. I ran it by my State Trooper buddy and he laughed. He said thats what they all say. He said there is no more accurate system gps is secondary. All VDO equipment. Not bad for 10 grand.
