HOW FAST IS YOUR CHECKMATE? EVERYONE!

78.5, full tank, 26 trophy, 5900RPM. Going to try a fury and Bravo I XS later this year think I can get into the low 80s easy.

1987 251 Convincor

I have a 1987 251 Convincor. I am running a 454 stock block punched out .060 over to make 468 c.i. with cast iron merlin heads with Jim Valako (Valakoraceheads) wedge port job done to the intake ports and a dart high rise intake with wedged porting matched to intake ports to increase flow velocity. Full roller motor with crower roller rockers, Ferrea valves, hydraulic lifters, engine pro big diameter rods, stock rods, 4 bolt mains, .010 under journals on the crankshaft, .584 lift hydraulic camshaft, forged TRW domed pistons with valve relief, about 10.5:1 compression ratio. I am using a holley 850 double pumper modified to flow 880cfm. I also am using lightning headers with switchable exhaust tips to quiet the bark in the no wake zones. MSD blue box marine ignition with rev limiter set at 5800 rpm right now in case of airborn antics or a drive failure. I am also running full imco hydraulic steering from the helm hooked to a bravo one with drive shower, no nose cone yet - still doing research to see if it would be beneficial. I am running a 25 pitch 4 blade stainless hydromotive cleaver prop most of the time, better for getting on plane and almost impossible to blow out, on occasion I try my 27pitch 3 blade mercury mirage prop but that seems very prone to cavitation and blow out. The motor dynoes at 600 hp without any supercharger or procharger. Bennett trim tabs right now, K planes would be better. My best gps'd speed was 78 mph at 5750 rpm, driver only and light fuel load, will do 70 - 72mph with a boat load.

getting old, mite blow any second

hey folks, the captain is still alive, stock piling my gas money ive earned in the busiest summer of my life. when i mix some oil in it look out, because there might be a 4th of august. ile hollar at you soon. this is the busiest ive ever been in 30 years of hvac, & the least times ive been on a jjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjj

Saturday went 67 on GPS with a nearly full (between 3/4 and full) tank of fuel, four adults, and a big ole cooler that was full of ice and beer in the floor of the cuddy.

This was the first time I have ever gotten a GPS run in. Speedometer was showing 72.

This was in my 253 Convincor with a 502 turning a 24P Bravo 1 at 4850 to 4900 rpm. I was watching the tach and my brother was holding the GPS.

So i just got a 91 pulse 186 with a 2000 200 merc with the nose cone on it... Once i add the Hydraulic jackplate with 10' set back... What should be my goal speed?

Updated speed numbers.

Went out alone today, nice and cool and no humidity. 2011 2100 pulsare LD. 2010 250 proxs w/1.75 gears. Torquemaster lower w/propshaft 1.5 in below the pad. 15 in setback. 27 Fury(stock). Ran 84, Lavorsi gps at a hair over 6200 rpms.Trimmed like a mother and balancing on the pad the whole way. Winter Sux.

97 Persuader 219 w/ Procharged 7.4/bravo 1 w/ cone turning a 28p bravo. I haven't gps'd it yet, but I can bury the 80mph speedo at 4600rpms. Stock engine w/ Procharger. I figure around 450-500hp. Any thoughts on how fast this boat should run?

No I haven't. My manual says the stock 454 is only supposed to run max rpm from 4200-4600. I have no problem hitting 4600 w/ only about 1/2 trim and that buries the speedo and starts walking quite a bit and becomes what feels very unstable. If I trim it up past 1/2 way and have the nerve to keep going it will turn more rpms for sure. It's still pulling pretty hard when I get to 4600 and feels like it could turn a couple hundred more. I honestly don't feel like I can really push it to the limit w/o some more seat time in this boat.

I also have a 29p Mirage Plus, but I've never used it. Do you know if a 3-blade helps chine walk or makes it worse?

3 Blades handle better overall and on mine get 2-3 more mph top end.
Mines alot different then yours so I'm just saying!

1st off...get a GPS stock speedo's are not even close most of the time...early testing right before season ended I ran 80.4 GPS w/3/4 tank of fuel w/stock 28 bravo 1, in the middle of adding inside hyd steering now...cable was not a great feeling...

"Faster". Always faster.
