HOW FAST IS YOUR CHECKMATE? EVERYONE!

I'm sure it's been said before, but "not fast enough". '97 pulsare 2100 br, Yammy 225 vmax, 25" tempest plus, 11.5" setback. 72.9 gps at 5900 rpm. I think theres more there but I need more prop and a bit more setback. Some hydro-tec parts probably wouldn't hurt either. Winter's coming, lots of time to save for next summer!!

I just bought a 89 Senator 20ft. stock 350ci. with 21p stainless..It runs over 65mph on speedo /Low 60s onGPS.. Any thoughts on Prop pitch???:surf::surf:

Most 260 horse 350 alpha did good with about a 21 pitch like you have...maybe expierment with different brands and 3-4 blades.

I'm curious what RPM you are running? I have a 88' Starfire 260hp and run about the same speeds at 4700 with a 24" Turbo 3 blade. (Runs about the same speed with a 23" Vengeance, but closer to 5k.)

Rpm's areb just over 5,000.. I'm thinking of a 23p prop

Ran a 27" Tempest on the weekend, 74.1 at 5750.

fiftyp, did you ever get the 100" JP and chopper prop?

I have a 91 Pulse 186 with Yam 200 Prov. no JP, stock Yam 3 bld prop...doing 65 at 6K

I'm interested in performance of a 4 bld and 10" JP.

86 Enchanter I/O. Right now zero. Just bought it. Putting in a new engine before I tuck it away for the winter. But can't wait to post pics and/or vids next spring!! I'll let you know then! So even the slowest can beat me! :(

I'll toss mine in the mix, 1992 Persuader 234 with a mild Andy Jensen 468bb Chevy, 440hp, 73mph. Coming this winter, K-planes and an Immco shorty lower and better prop.

Well guess its time to introduce my 2011 1850BR. So far this is how she runs:
175 Merc Verado
23P Tempest Plus w/ 5 1/2" jackplate
63mph @ 6350RPM (GPS)

Gonna have Air Marine in Chicago do a little tweaking to the prop this winter but currently I am running 95% efficiency by my math. We will see what magic they can work to squeek out a few more MPH. But at this point I am quite pleased.

88 Spectra 188...150 blackmax with shaved heads, intake, CCMS reeds...21 pitch cleaver....68.5 at 6200....going to try a prop with a little more lift to get more of the hull out of the water...but for now....no bitches....runs like a swiss watch and I use it all the time...it sits at the dock behind my condo...I also have a 23 Powerplay I bought with a 450 horse 502 that was blown up, that is now going 548 cubes and 650 horse....that will be a fun one.

I finally got a gps reading a couple weeks ago on my `88 senator with a 598 and bravo xz and 2" shorty, 89.6. I have more power, still dialing in the hull. It took some work to get over 80.(in some kind of control anyways) The 18" long trim tabs were the real improvement, once I got the stops set right. I`ve been running a 30" bravo 4 blade and I`m sure thats not the best choice, gotta borrow a 32 5 blade hydromotive to see what it really has. (if that works) I know Ive been well over 90, but cant prove it. Well, till next year!

My Pulse 186 with a Etec 150, 10" jackplate. Best speed of 60.9 GPS. 57-59 any day. Love my Etec and it's a stump puller out of the hole with the 4 bld prop. Fun boat to run.

92 pulse 170 with 94 Black Max 135. stock 23p Laser II turning 62-6300. 5.5 CMC jackplate set 3in below the pad. 15mph tail wind and a decent chop. 1/2 tank of gas (16 gal). GPS max speed was 65.1 mph. Resetting the GPS for another run, it hit 64.9 mph. This gps reads about 1mph slower than the speedo in my truck so Im guessing its pretty accurate.

1980 diplomat open bow 150HP Mercury Black Max. 23 pitch TurboII prop. "custom show interior" 5 additional handlaid layers of glass on the floor to add weight to keep it from flipping in the wind ....64 MPH.:sssh:

1985 Entertainer open bow custom 383 Stroker motor approx 450HP, IMCO headers, 22 pitch hydromotive intimidator prop, Land&Sea stern jack, competition Stereo (approx 290LB adder). 67MPH:p

2005 SeaDOO RXT Stage3 modified 330HP 78MPH:eyecrazy:

1999 Maxum 3700SCR 24,000 LB dry weight 2x454 Merc Horizans 720hp 31MPH

:cheers:1999 259 ran 66 gps with 454/385 with EMI exhaust and k&n filter , 24 bravo at 4900 rpm , just dropped in a very mild 9.5 to 1 555 cu. in With pro action heads (320cc) and comp xtreme marine hyd roller .242 /.248 @.050 , victor jr intake ,950 holley , and old style lightning headers and ran 79 gps with 30 bravo @ 4800 , have only ran it once for about an hour as i just got it running in November so hope with more prop testing it may run better ???? i have a labbed 28 bravo i have yet to try ... tried the 24 briefly ! the accelleration was awesome ! but stopped the throttle at 5600 would have went more for sure !bought boat at the end of august and have only ran it once prior so dont know if tach is correct ?

I'm sure a thread like this has been done before, but most of us are always doing something to improve our performance, so it's time to update. I would like to see members post there personal boat specs. ,and current top speed numbers. What you have done to your engine, horsepower numbers, prop specs, and any other mechanical or speed/power details you would like to add. I'll start it off...

1988 251 Convincor Stock 454 with Wieand 177 supercharger running 4.5 lbs. boost. Timing is set at 28 degrees total. Holley 800 cfm carb. Stock everything else. If the blower is adding 125-150 horsepower as it's sopposed to then I'm around 450-475HP. Best speed numbers are 69.7 down river on GPS. I'm running a 26 Bravo 1 prop @ 4500 rpm. It runs about 3 mph slower with my 28 Hydromotive @ 4250rpm. Still expiermenting with props... and waiting for the cooler weather to get it over 70mph. The supercharger has gained me 12-13 mph. at a cost of $1900.00.

I'm looking forward to seeing other members specs. and how much work and expense it took to get there.

How fast is my Checkmate?

Not fast enough.

LOL!

Best has been 63mph at 5800 with just me and a 1/2 tank of fuel. 200hp Looper built with parts from several different years but with a 1999 powerhead, 5.5" CMC plate, 24 pitch Raker. Got some stuff planned for next year that should wake it up a bit.

87 Predictor 115 hp Mercury 21p prop. no setback or jackplate. Had it 53mph on gps. With lots of water under the floor.Have since replaced the floor, hope to go a little more.

1978 Checkmate Trimate I with a Johnson 115

I got it up to 45-46mph on GPS with 4 adults in the boat in lake tarpon. About 5600 RPM. I seldom bring the GPS, though, it isn't mine...

I usually take it out on the gulf... Im sure i've hit 50 a few times with less people and the wind and waves in my favor... probably about 5800 RPM is the max I've hit. I plan on doing a nice 1 or 2 person baseline in the lake sometime soon... I am wondering if theres a better prop out there for me than my vintage stainless 13x19, but since I run in some nasty waves from time to time, I'm not in a hurry to lose my sweet accelleration for a little bit of top end.

Probably one of the slower boats here... but whatever. She's stylish... And I got her for 1700!

just picked up an 85 predictor with a 1985 85 horse evinrude. Hope i hit atleast 40 :) cant wait to get her in the water. What is the difference between propellers?
