HOW FAST IS YOUR CHECKMATE? EVERYONE!

Been there with the 55 gallon race gas drums I get. I use a set of atv ramps to roll it down. The guys at the speed shop said people stack a couple used tires below the tailgate, roll the drum, and let it fall on the tires. Not me.

When I lived in NJ there was a local airport that had a self serve pump for 100LL. Swipe your credit card and have at it. What's LL go for these days?

I got the drum for $5.25 a gallon which is about a buck more than they want for non ethanol 92 octane at the gas station and almost the same as the local marina gets for the same 92 octane gas. 100LL is about 102 AKI octane so a 25% mix with 92 gets me a comfortable safety margin.

I used to drive my old 9 second 900 HP '68 cougar up to the pump and fill it up and no one ever said a word. Same deal, swipe the card and enter the tail letters of the closest plane. Last few years they've gotten pretty stingy with airport access though. The local airport is a no go for access unless you are a member.

'81 Eluder, it has a bone stock 485 in it. Don't know what prop is on it. I bought it last Saturday. It had been in there family since the 80's. It has the original interior in it! I'm a water skier so a stern drive is new to me. Once I learn how to drive and what equipment I actully do have, I'm sure I'll get her into the 50's. So for $700.00, I not only got my first Checkmate but got to hit 47mph!!!

Had the old Enticer out today. In 88 degree weather with myself and 3 other sandbar guys totalling 900 lbs of beer guts with a full tank of gas, anchor and full gear I got her up to 80 MPH at 7200 with a 26 pitch chopper prop. Rock on baby.

1995 checkmate convincor 216. 350 motor 55mph at 4100rpm has been my best speed. No idea on what the prop is.

Mercury 14" diameter 21 pitch Stiletto

That's a small prop isn't it for a 350?

I would think so too. Something doesn't sound kosher. The speed sounds about right but the rpm on that pitch
should be at least about 500 rpm higher.
I'd imagine on a 21 foot i/o with a sbc it should be cranking a 23 pitch 3 blade up to the limiter.
Could the tach be on the wrong setting?
Just thinking out loud.

A little small for top end but your 350 should be getting more rpms. Are you trimming it up or is the drive buried. Hows the holeshot.

I start out with the drive buried but the hole shot is terrible. It feels like it falls on it's face when you take off sometimes. I've been tryin to sort out the power issue.

What drive do you have? sounds to me like you have a 1:36 drive ratio, Try dropping to a 19 pitch you should be where you want to be with that. Assuming that there aren't power issues going on.

I'll try to see what ratio it is. Where do I look at?
