ISO 251 Convincor, w/or w/o power

Instigator

Well-known member
Looking for a 251 in perfect condition, either less power or w/a scattered motor.

Going to convert to O/B so I dont care about the drive or motor.
Hull and interior must be perfect though.
Or pull your hardware and sell me the shell.

Prefer an aluminum trailer also.

Buying another house so cash poor until I sell/trade a couple of existing boats to support this project.

I have a virgin Starliner (probably $5500 w/o power), tandem trailer, hydraulic steering and jack plate, trim/plate on turn signal switches, perfectionist/newly re-rigged and also, a just as clean '93 Celebrity 20' I/O cuddy w/a 220 hp V-8, new $800 Sunbrella mooring cover, tabs, 2nd battery, camper enclosure, cockpit cover, as new, $7500.
The Celebrity is bad ass in rough water w/the tabs down.

If you have what Im looking for and can afford to wait until my junk sells, Id be glad to do a non refundable, nominal cash deposit.

Thanks guys. This should be fun.

Gary

Boom!

'86 251.

Fell in love w/the color scheme, never seen it before.

Wanted an alum trailer and its on one thats 1 yr old.

Has a .030" over 454 w/a stroker crank and is at 493 cu ins I believe.
All good parts (rods etc) but dropped a valve.
Has an '06 Bravo 1 thats perfect.
Seller guesed 625 HP's. 82 mph GPS.

Once I get it home, that all comes out and goes up for sale.

Should be a fun project.

So what's your game plan, Gary? The gel and interior look pretty clean. Can't wait to see the final project!

Convert to twin O/B, install a platform/bracket and probably OMC carbureted V-6 OMC loopers cuz that's what I know, and their cheap.

One reason I haven't done one before is their tiny, I think 57 gls, fuel tanks.
My Sonics carried 89 gls and I could drain it in a weekend if it was calm.
My options are to cut up the floor and replace existing or add a 2nd tank in bilge where motor is now.
That option is easiest but don't want the weight back there.

Will also be reconfiguring the cabin entry so we don't have to crawl in on all fours.

have you sold any motor parts yet, possibly intersested in motor for my 25 convincor project.

not sure how bad that one was hurt, told me blew it up twice, second time he was giving up...engine builder was supposed to make it right, but of course never did...I may sell my 496 454+4.25+.060 merlin grumpy jenkins heads, stripe dominator intake, Comp solid marine cam, complete...just seeing what happens with my eliminator

Nice looking 251!
Did the i/o only have a 57gal tank?

My '82 twin o/b 251 Convincor has a 90gal tank.
I replaced it in 2016 with a new one when replacing floor and cabin. Orig tank was 98gal, but sending in exact dimensions to the tank manufacturer (near Jersey Shore), resulted in a 90gal tank. I presume adding baffles and thicker alum are reason for losing capacity.

Last year Demag replaced my transom (pour in) and stringers up into cabin (discovered they were worse than previously thought in 2016), and floor again, and we're finishing off the cabin fitments this Winter.
That, and an engine rebuild, and I should be ready to go by Spring.

Good luck with the build. Reach out to Demag, Droptop, Ramifications or I if you want to get input on all the work done to our twin o/b Convincors in last few years.

Thx for all the help guys and sorry for the delayed reply.
Messages were going to spam.

Sold the exhaust today, and a friend has spoken for entire outdive system.

Motor is still assembled and unspoken for.
mudshark, call me if interested. 937-571-1239

I will open up the motor for an autopsy as soon as my new shop is built or weather breakes. Both looking like spring ;(

ezstriper, thats what he told me. Said it dropped a valve this time.
He was sick of writing the checks for little on water time.
The Stainless exhaust would have passed as new!

knarloid, 67 gls. You can see the ID tag under the rear bench seat.

Im going to start a new thread on the conversion/restoration.
