I got the boat back from Kary had some difficultys with the motor and getting it worked out later. In the mean time I am starting my resto. I am going to take some pics of before today but I am taking all the rails off windsheild and the ladder lights everything. Going to start wheeling out the gel with my aqua-buff today hopefully. I am getting all the rails ready for pollishing too.
 
and here are some after the aqua buff. I love the spots that did not get any sunlight they look great but I doubt I will get that shine on all of it unless i regel it.

well Apparently my boat is black with silver flake not gold I took off the emblem and it was silver under that. I started buffing and the gold is slowly going away. The gel looks beautiful.

I doing half the boat to show the difference in a pic. Does anyone have any suggestions on the damn water line I cant get ride of it. But the water line is shinny now...:brickwall:
 
my predictor looked the same. the black was too far gone for me to polish out though.

I cant wait to see the results in the sun. :bigthumb:
 
Thanks for the comments guys I will try to get some sunlight pics if the sun ever comes back out its been cloudy all week so far.
 
This isnt a sunny day but its better than nothing. I love the reflection of my house and the merc. The last pic show the half I pollished and the half still ****ty The water stops are from a light rain I just had.

The only way I found to get the water line off is to sand it off. Its a fine line tho because you go to far and it will be a bad outcome! You can start with 1000, 1500, then finish with something in the 2000 to 3000 grit range. Buff it back and it will look new again.
 
Well I have good news and bad news

Good first

I installed the Jack plate today...:D

Bad news I removed gas tank to install jack plate and found this. I kinda knew it was going to be like this I have been planning on doing a floor resto anyways just the sight of it kinda churns the stomach some.:sick:

Good luck, its not as bad as one might think. Oh and your stringer will be rotten out also, just letting you know so there is no suprises. I had that sick feeling the first time i did a floor replacement too.
 
so far I have about half the floor out and half the foam and the boat is about 100 lbs lighter now. I will get some pics of it up soon with the floor out.
 
What is the best way to cut the floor where it meets the hull. I hope you guys know what I mean its where the flat floor hits the angle floor/hull. I have a cut off wheel but I wanted to see my other options first. p.s. I love the garden hose drain:sick:
 
I have always used a circular saw set to about 1/4". I only use it to cut through the fiberglass going parallel to the boat. Then I cut just past the wood (leaving a sliver of wood there) and use a screw driver to remove the rest of the rotten wood. When you have to cut side to side, you will have to set it to about 1/2"+ and make sure you dont go throught the glass in the hull. ****If you do make sure you patch it with fiberglass before putting new floor back in**** The stringer is prob rotten also. It should just about fall apart and then you will have to cut it at the front with a sawzall. Scrub it with concrete degreser, grind it all, and scrub it all again. This will make the best adheasion for the new glass.
