Kenny Putman Remembrance

Sam I am

Well-known member
All,
As some of already know Kenny Putman, long time Checkmate employee, passed away recently. It was mentioned in another thread, but now that there's some information out there it seemed appropriate to start another thread as others suggested. Here's the link to his obituary, but it's hard to measure the impact he's had on our community over the years in a few short paragraphs.

If anyone has any Kenny memories to share...let's hear them.

Sam

Sad to hear

Did not know him, but certainly appreciated what he had a hand in pushing out of the factory. To young, very sad.

In remembrance of Kenny. RIP.

Not sure if he put the original black gel coat on my 95 Persuader 219, but I'm certain he must have touched in some way.

RIP, condolences to his family.
Not sure if he sprayed mine but it sounds like he might have and after 25 yrs I can still buff it like new. Sad day for the Checkmate family.

I talked with Kenny on just about every visit to CM. I can't say that I knew him well or that we were bf's, but what I can tell you is that he was a very nice guy and he was an artist with a pencil, tape measure, and a roll of masking tape! His work was beautiful and he took pride in what he did. Thoughts and prayers to his family and the CM family. R.I.P.

I did get to meet him while at the factory sorting out build details on my 2400. He gave me quick over veiw of what goes into laying out graphics. I was very impressed with the talent it takes to tape lines working inside a mold. All inside curves unlike a car or boat done from the outside. You are not pulling lines over a curve, lifting up, resetting then standing back to to see how straight it is when doing in a mold.

He had skills that are surely going to be missed at the factory, and of course missed by friends and family. May he rest in peace.

Hey everyone, Kenny's daughter is having trouble paying for cremation expenses and could use some help. I'm not even sure how she's really going to make it without her dad around. He worked two jobs as it was. She shared a go fund me to her facebook page asking for help. I'll post a link here. I'm sure any help at all would be appreciated. Thank you.

I'm sure that if you send something to Checkmate to help they will pass it along also. Again, thank you.

Bringing this thread up to the top. Throw a few bucks into the pot if you can spare it.

Yes please, Steph sends her thanks for those who have sent money and those who will. Also her and Kenny's mom love all the boat pictures that have been posted in the picture thread, and said to say thanks for those too.
