need a good source for merc wiring diagram

hey guys, got everything 100% new stats new impeller new popet and all the gauges are hooked up. everything is working with one exception. i ran the "brown/white " wire from my engines forward harness to the "sig" terminal on my new autometer trim gauge. ( i made sure to get the one for merc) ive got the "ign" terminal ran to the forward harness "purple" wire and the "gnd" terminal to ground. when i turn on key power the trim gauge goes all the way to the top no mater what position the motor is in. i had it on and trimmed it all the way from top to bottom and back. no change in the gauge. any ideas? i thought about running a separate wire from the trim sensor all the way up to the gauge but then i figured there might be a common problem with the trim gauge sender on the motor or god knows what else i could be overlooking. so before i splice a wire and run it all the way up front for no reason......am i missing something?

Bump!!! Can someone with a Mercury mota help in enchanted, sounds like it's connected correctly.

Does the gauge stay in the full up when it's off? My gauge goes to the full up position when it's off. It sounds to me like the gauge is wired wrong. Could you get a pic of the back of the gauge?

the needle goes all the way to the top when the key is turned on and the gauge sees ignition power. this morning for giggles i unplugged the brown/white signal wire and it does the same thing so for some reason its not getting signal. the gauge returns to the bottom when you turn the key off and ignition power is taken away. the gauge only has three terminals. one for ignition power one for ground and one for signal from the trim sensor. tonight i think im going to check out the sensor to make sure it has its ground wire conected properly and i may run a loose wire from the sensor up to the gauge. maybe its just a short in the harness.

all right ive got an update, but first a little clarification. when i said the trim gauge goes all the way up i ment 12 o'clock. the word "up" on the gauge is at 10 o'clock. and down is at 7 o'clock

so with all that being said, i started looking for bad grounds and found the jumper that goes from the swivel to the midsection was missing so i replaced it. it didnt change anything. turn on the key gauge goes to 12 o'clock. so then i ran a wire straight from the signal side of the sensor up to the signal terminal on the gauge and still nothing. so i plugged the merc trim wire back into the gauge and decided to run a dedicated ground from the battery to the ground side of the trim sensor. thats when i had some change. with the new ground ran when i turn on the key the gauge points at the word "up" on the gauge instead of running all the way to 12 o'clock. only problem now is that it points to the word "up" no mater where the motor is positioned. the sensor has a bit of adjustment to it with the mounting screws, but i moved it around with no change. so im assuming the trim sensor is bad? any help is greatly appreciated.

When the sensor goes bad thats what it will do. They go streight up. Your gonna need to get a kit and replace them. There sold in pairs.

If its going strieght up and you wired it direct, I would do that next.
They go bad. Hope being and o/b its easier then an i/o to replace.

hardest part of removing it is picking which screwdriver to use. takes about 6 seconds after that. i'm going to order one today. i'll update after its changed.

thanks everyone
