New guy here to check out these boats, into rc boats

i have always absolutely loved the curves on a checkmate, these boats are sick, im in engineering school right now so hopefully if the studies go well then maybe i can afford one, but for now, all i have is this rc boat, which actually gets some pretty ridiculous speeds and has some sweet curves as well, i am currently having some vinyl checkmate decals to be put all over it, tell me what you guys think, pictures were taken with an iphone, so the pics dont do it justice, she looks badass, and she revs to 19,000 rpm's

these are just for fun, other guys rc boats, these are ridiculous, first one has twin turbines and each turbine is over 5,000 dollars, this boat may be worth as much as some of the other boats on this forum

this one is really sweet and really clean with 4 cylinders and over 24 hp in an rc boat

and these are just new this year, twin engine outriggers, these boats are hitting well over 90 mph and run like they are on rails, really fun watching guys build these things up

Thanks that is some real cool boats! If we turn 19,000 you would spend the rest of the day trying to find all the parts of your motor. LOL

Keep up your hard work in college.........Trust me, with a degree in Engineering you will be able to afford a Checkmate of your own some day (I can vouch for it)!:thumb:

Keep working towards that degree man....I am still trying to finish my ME degree......It is a lot easier to just get it done right away versus working full time and taking classes here and there. It seems like it will never end to me.

thanks guys, i am really nervous about graduating next year as companies really are not hiring these days, im sure it will work out at some point but as of right now i am very nervous, oh well summer is almost here and i will enjoy my rc boat and my gayliner (bayliner) lol, she runs pretty nice tho
 
I have been into RC hobbies for 30 years. Large scale gas RC boats ( and large scale RC in general )have been gaining popularity in the rc community for the last few years. Check out Warehouse Hobbies.com and Bonziboats.com you can buy a Ready to Run boat like the one above for anywhere from 1200 dollars on up. Matter of fact I just bought a "man-o-war" from Warehouse hobbies that I intend to have custom painted to look like the purple flamer.:bigthumb:

The cool thing about the large scale gas stuff is if you can start and run a weed eater, then you can start and run one of these RC's. They are not super temperamental like the nitro powered stuff is. And if you have any experience with nitro then you know its bad enough on dry land. Let alone on or near water!

Nice R/C man, good looking hull! I'm hardcore into R/C boating myself, used to race nitro boats in IMPBA sanctioned events years ago. Now i've found brushless electric power with Lithium Polymer (aka Lipo) batteries, they go like hell and are more user freindly than nitro. I have a real soft spot for the big gas boats tho, always loved the "weedeaters". A freind of mine is putting together a gasser right now, and i'm looking into building a gas hull this winter maybe. Last winter i built a 37" FighterCat Daytona (it's a 50' Mystic race boat replica hull) with brushless power, on 4S lipo i'm gettin low to mid 40's mph, 5S would get me closer to 50 mph, plenty fast enough for me lol! Hears a couple short video's...

Good luck man! Keep studying, you'll find a job, they are out there, and that new Checkmate may not be to far away!!
