Hey everyone, Im new to this site. just picked up my first checkmate. I owned alot of boats and finally got the best. I live in CT and was wondering if there is any events in my area. I was thinking of maybe getting a Checkmate club together or a yearly run? Anyone in my area have any suggestions? Also how do I put pics up?

I think the closest event will be down on The Chesapeake in MD. A few of us get together here on Greenwood Lake, NY during the summer and I hit Lake Wallenpaupack in PA for a family camping trip with the boat at least once a year. I'd like to check out Candlewood Lake or the CT River this summer too.

Candlewood lake isnt far from my house. It is one of the best lakes in CT. I picked up a 1989 checkmate sportfire with a merc 90. Condition is about an 8 on a scale of 1 to 10. I got it with nice trailer for $3400. Do you think I made out ok? Also there is a mint 1995 Pulse 18.6 with a merc 175 for $7500 obo. The owner wouldnt let his kids in the boat if they were wet. Its showroom condition. I was thinking about buying it. $7500 obo sound reasonable?

I live in Central CT. There are a bunch of us on the CT River between Rocky Hill and Haddam.
There are also a few in the west-central lakes (Zoar, Lillinonah, Candlewood)

Yes it was the black one. I spent hours wetsanding and buffing with polishing compound. The paint looks great. I put a stereo system in it with Jl and pioneer and rockford fosgate components. I am going to do a few other things to get it ready for the summer. Its a mini project. Thats a 16 foot 7 inch boat. Is it considered a 16 or 17 foot boat? I live ten minutes from zoar thats where I mostly been going for years. I saw a newer 2008? white checkmate with orange flames thing is beautiful! My grandmother lives 1/10 of a mile from Randy Corsons in Fla. shop so I also swing by and look at his boats.

No i dont think so, I saw you in the summer of 08 when I came home from Afghanistan. I had the red 22 foot chris craft limited with 350 thru hull etc. with a white stripe. You might remember it. I do know some people out on zoar. My buddy bought the red persuader 219 with 600 horse off that older guy. He sold it but he just picked up another persuader with a 305.

BTW that white and orange checkmate was sooo nice! I saw you on the sandbar and we docked up next to you. There is a 18.6 pulse in Shelton for 7500 obo with merc 175. Thing is absolutely mint I am kicking myself for not waiting and getting the pulse. Have you seen it??
