Ranger Boats " Built to be yours"

Found it, lots of chopper gun work. And it looks like they don't even let the mold sit still when they are building it.

Gotta keep them boats moving.

You see the gun play at about 1:40 or so.

So is chopper gun spraying bad followed by laying mat on top?

It is a bit resin rich. But you don't lay mat on top of it, those chopped fibers are the mat. Rather than having it on a roll like a cloth, it gets blown on with a gun. Which can leave heavy spots, depending on the training of the gun operator.

I'm not going to say its bad or wrong, its just not something you would want in a go fast boat. But it works great for what they are doing. and thats whats important.

Coop, what is the advantage of chopper guns if you still have the girls roll it out? Also, what is the advantage of laying rope glass in the strakes instead of filling w- putty? Stronger?

by the looks of that video and the boats they were building it looks to be from the 90s. I watched the video again and at 12:40 you can see them spraying glass as they are putting the rods in the stakes. put it looks like they start with mat first then goes to the chopper guns.

There's two different video's, one showing the chopper gun used for the deck and the other showing large sheets of mat being laid in the hull after the gel coat is shot. I assume that how the boats are built?

I forgot to mention that the video I was talking about is the newer one that Rob first posted.
