re riggin the 2800sx....

just figured id let the checkmate family know im in the middle of re rigging my 2800sx.....haoping i have the same success that Jupiter has had with his 2.4s on his 2800.....im really impressed at how well it looks and runs!!!!!

20" 2.4 liter 200hp mercs on 18" centers, merc offshore lighweight cowls, 2.0 ratio lowers with LWP.... running prop shaft 1.75 inches above the bottom in front of each bullet respectively.

man lemme tell ya....18 inch center distance is TIGHT!!! lol but it all clears...i had a world of distance at 22.5 with alien cowls...not so at 18.....

gonna start with 26 merc racing chopper IIs....shooting for 6500 rpm and 72+ mph....that would put my prop slip at 10%.....def gonna play with different props and setup.....Brett at B Blades told me to turn the props out.....

we'll see......

2ton, Wow 22" is tight! But at as long as the cowls don't hit when you turn the wheel....they look cool!

My centers were no where near that tight but I had 3 liters. Brett knows a lot more than me but I tried turning mine out and did not like the handling. Mine were turned in with 1/8" toe in running 4 blade bravos. I had a pair of worked choppers that were fast but the bravos were an all around better prop (out of the hole, carried the bow and handled like on rails). How high are you going to run them?

I would have loved to have tried a pair of Brett's 4 blade B-Blade Blasters.

Good luck-

Are you running 20" or 25" mids. Congrats on making this a rig a keeper.

thank man!

im running 20 inch mids.....

@ SCT:

i was at 1.5 inches last year......this year im 2 inches above the bottom of the hull in front of each bullet....(i said 1.75 in my original post but i just measure and it 2 inches above)...moving them in from 22.5 to 18 inch centers also effectively raised the x dimension 1/2 of an inch.....at least as far as in relation to the hull in front of each nose cone.

the tips of the bullets are about 28 inches from the transom

i am going to play with as many props as i can.....you told me last year to try a set of bravos.....ima do it this time around....lol

Max, I'm so glad you decided to keep her and re-rig the boat! Looking forward to comparing notes and then getting both boats together this summer with in Florida!!!!!!!! I'm hopefully going to start sanding all the glue off the ceiling of my cabin in the next couple of weeks and start cleaning up the wiring behind the dash!

honestly im glad it didnt sell.....cant believe i even offered it for the price i was advertising. lol

and you bet your ass ima be in the sunshine state this summer for sure.

2ton, wish the best of luck to you. if they pushed my heavy barge to 64 you should be able to be in the 70's. glad you are keeping it, we don't have many twins around.
sct I will let you know how brett's blasters work. when I finish putting the boat back together with the 300's a set of them will be going on the back to try.

i feel that 70 is a realistic and achievable goal.....absolute best of circumstances i will be able to break that but im not gettin my hopes up.

man i cant wait to see those 300s on your 28.......gonna be nasty.

i hear goo dthings about the blasters....

Max let me know when your up and running? Picking my motor up Saturday, and hopefully have it together and on within a week. Ill come down to Cumberland and will run them, I don't have long enough stretches to where I can open here up and play. Plus will have some helping hands if needed.

hell yea man....i will for sure....

it will more than likely be a couple weeks yet....i dont have much work to do but i have alot going on right over the next lil bit so idk how fast it will go....

bought a pair of the rigging flanges and elbows with the fuel port built into them and also bought 4 sections of black 2 inch marine rigging to tidy up the transom a lil bit .......should be real sweet when done...

comon down anytime......we can work on it in my shop...i have every tool known to man so if we have any issues it wont be a problem.....

sounds good! im ordering some rigging hose myself to do the same and new gauges so ill probably be rewiring everything since the person before me did a awful job.

ill hit ya up if i have any issues, hopefully it goes pretty smooth!

yeah the engines are close for sure....18 inch centers....and i can still turn lock to lock! but lemme tell ya there is literally no way they could be any closer.

hope to be testing next weekend....but we'll see

Looks awesome! Got any info on those rigging tube adapters on the motor side? I think this year's project is gonna be to do mine.
